I pile it by cutting times like said above stacking it is just pointless with the winds/sunshine we have here. It’s in a row just not stacked .

Gulo a shame to cut those saw logs for firewood. I know the transportation is the killer.
Mine don't get "that" big.

I just toss mine into a random pile like this... That is soooooo sweettt Don't be fooled I googled the picture, but I agree it's sweet. My OCD won't allow me to toss fire wood in a pile though, it has to be neatly stacked, even if it's just for bonfires.

I am just glad to get it stacked in the shed so it can dry
ifyou think a gun safe is big enough buy a bigger one
if you think a wood shed is big enough , double it
my shed is 8x12 I wish I had gone at least 12 by 12 and 16 by 16 would have been better
if I ever build a new one it will be three 8 foot wide bays 12 foot deep with a 2 foot overhang in front
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Jack I was hoping you'd post that wise old owl !
Amazing creations in stacking here. I just stack tight as possible , in rows , clear up to the roof in the shed. I have another section I keep for thin and smaller pieces , for starters and to encourage the big rounds to burn well in the stove.
Nothing in this world to me as cedar. I use harder woods too, but cedar, for me , makes the nicest warmth combined with other conifer firs and tamarack.

Thanks Sharon. While in Alaska, I burned white spruce and often mixed in paper birch. However, I always had a short stack of eastern tamarack (similar to the western tamarack down here in Idaho) that was for the open fireplace in the great room. I burned tamarack in that open fireplace simply because of the crackling and constant noise; loved the smell and the noisy, crackling fire. Down here, I burn 100% lodgepole pine, as we have no tamarack or cedar where I live.

Yes, Jack, I have a forestry book on Idaho and Montana...I just loved studying it. The dividing line where hemlock, cedars and the like stops , North and South, are basically right even with hi way 12.
One of the reasons I wanted to be east of the divide and up near Canada in the NW.
I simply love driving up the mountains and seeing the transitions of trees ...white and red fir, tamarack, cedars, from lowland to highland hemlock, (another favourite conifer ), to sub alpine fir, Doug fir, white pine . Lodgepole and Ponderosa pine too.
There are a few kinds of birch , but not a lot in this area. Nice in aspen too.
Nothing like the sound of a warming fire. Or the feel.
