My plan is replacing my hot water heater right now. They have replaced my fridge, washer, and dryer. Plus they replaced all the electronics in my furnace last winter. Will I ever get my $28 a month back.....probably not. But it's a lot easier than coming up with hundreds or thousands when something quits. And it always seems stuff dies at the worst time

I have a plan with our gas company, covers furnace, stove, hot water heater and I believe our dryer.I pay 20 some dollars a month.
They have been out twice in the last 3 weeks and replaced parts in our 40 year old furnace. You can bet I am glad I was paying for the extra plan.

Thru gas co. Not best plan an not replacement plan for $22 mo. But better nothing ,u have to be home at time appt, none else but me an could be problem an wait hrs as no idea when they come , it only good maybe emergency maybe as they blow u off appt for weeks like past an try get out it so u hire someone, just like tow ins I got when stuck along side road for 6 hrs a cpl yr ago, but better nothing , they did put lot parts furnace 5-10 yrs ago , but now , iffy on part avail, some parts probly interchange or good on all , anyone know what labor charge is on new furnace ? A new furnace itself wouldn't be terrible bad but labor I don't know , u can get furnace on all different prices, some for $8-900, can't have pets where tech is at or ur call cancel or if dont Answer pH just bfore they come out is what gas co policy , I check it thru electric co, higher prices yet

Mine is threw our gas company also. I called the plumber putting in my water heater today and told him I'm wife and I were leaving. He said "OK I'll say hi to Belair" (my chocolate lab). Lol. Nobody has to be home for us to get service

my wifes first job out of school was a home warranty

SCAM

she was there about a month and a half and just couldn't take it any more she would spend hours trying to get a plumber or electician eventually every one knew they weren't getting paid or it would be months

a long list of things to figure out how it wasn't going to be covered

they even bounced a pay check she got that final pay check drove strait to the bank named on the check , the bank called the company owner who transferred some funds to cover the pay check over the phone then we were able to cash the pay check

there might be a good one out there but

30 dollars a month in a coffee can will buy you a new dryer in 1 year

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I used to sell them for Montgomery Wards back in the 80's.
It was a high pressure job. You had quotas to make. They listened in to your convo's to make sure you were pushing hard to sell them.

It had a very high turnover rate.

I quit when I got told I needed to pressure the older people more to buy. Basically what they wanted you to do was to get them to say yes. Then all you had to do was to get them to give you their birthday and in some instances their credit card info. Then you would tell them that their coverage would start the next day when a different rep. would call them to make sure everything was Kosher.

There were times you'd call 400-500 people in a shift and get 10-15 sales, then lose 5-8 of them the next day when someone else answered the phone and said no to the sale.

I found out later they were pretty much a scam. They would only sell the warranties to certain aged appliances. If it was 1990 they would only sell a warranty on an appliance that was 8 or less years old.
There were folks that were good at scamming them back by saying the appliance was good and working. Get the warranty, then in 6 months call and say it was acting funny. Getting $500-$800 in repairs done.

Not all are in anyway a scam. I have had my stove, oven and furnace repaired and it is by repairmen who work strictly for our gas company I for one, have been happy with the repairs I have had done and am glad I have the coverage. There was also no calls soliciting the insurance, just mentioning it in their monthly billling.

That is exactly what this is, thru gas company , it would be far better to not get it if had tons money spend an hire local contracter or mechanical business, it was ok years back for parts on furnace an dryer bunch times but spent more on it then worth, I probly get lower level ins for year, so if furnace go down, at least a chance can get u going, they put cpl belts dryer an burners, ignitors, clean cent an lube stuff up , new furnace blower motor, gas valve, ignitors, an had broken wires once , kept go in soft lock out mode, they don't replace heat exchangers , probly not get parts for some, local contracter charge me $80 for release valve water heater blew out, say lucky get another year or 2 out it an turn down low setting, only 6 years old , wonder what a furnace install runs ?

Bet with the rising cost of natural gas and the efficiency gains of a new, smaller output furnace vs that 20 year old dinosaur, your savings would pay for the furnace in a couple of years and eliminate your fears of your current equipment failing.

You should look into car shield for that Colorado. If it has under so many miles the cover most repairs.

This.

I replaced my old oil burner about 10 that came with the house and looked like it was built in the 40's. Cut my fuel usage by 40%.
When this one sneezes, its getting replaced because of its age now too.

I have never heard of this either. Sounds pretty nice though for older people or those who can't fix things. Pete can fix about anything. Our 20 year old washer croaked a few months back and he got it running like a top again, lol.

We had a plan through the gas company. When appliance's are 1-5 years old very little goes wrong. Once the get 10-15 years old many have discontinued parts.

We had a dishwasher that started leaking on the floor. The guy came out and ordered up 6 parts. He said once the all came call them back and he would be right out to install them. Over 1 weeks time 5 of the parts came, the main one was discontinued. I called them and asked what I should do with the 5 parts that came and the guy said "either keep them, or throw them away". It sure seemed like a heck of a waste.
