Got about half my snare line out and caught 4 yotes so far. Eagle destroyed one, one had mange, one had rot belly, and the keeper is about as flat as a pancake compared to the rest. Eagles and fall temps are out of control. I catch a lot of coyotes and last year was able to sell about 60% I pray its not the same story this year but it looks like it. At that rate its not worth the time or effort to put out 150 snares. What are you guys seeing?

Sounds like you should consider waiting for some cooler temps before setting maybe. Gonna be tough enough to break even in this market without having to toss out a lot of your catch.

I wouldnt set out a long snare line in warm temps.Your gonna be swamped with fur that needs processed quickly even if you do a 1 or 2 day check.
Youll rack up a lot more fur(able to run longer lines) on a longer check time after freeze up.I find birds dont bother carcasses that are frozen solid near as much as in warm weather when they can smell them a long way off.
Snaring in cover helps with keeping the sun(and thus birds) off.Even in cold temps strong sun can spoil a pelt in a day.
Not sure if you have cover to set up in where you are?

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

M.S Pickens, you must be in West River to have that many eagles messing with you. To each his own, but why are you trapping SD yotes in October...?

We are just starting between 5000 and 6000 ft. Elevation.
I would back off in S.D. a couple weeks imo .
