Well, I was going to hang it up the first of the year and concentrate on my two businesses. But my dept has made me an offer that i can't turn down right now. To retain long time Officers, they(dept) has given raises, promotions, up the night pay and bonuses. Plus added vacation (which i will use for hunting, fishing and ADC beaver trapping)
I received a pay increase of over $10,000. So I believe i can stick it out until i get my car, boat and camper paid along with a new roof. Sarge

10 g a year is a decent raise allright.Might want to check and see if it puts you in a higher tax bracket-in which case it may not be as good as it looks.Hang in and re-assess in one year.

can't find new officers , can't get the young guys/gals to want to take on any more OT than they already are.
any good cop you can keep is a huge savings in the budget
we have officers retire then work part time they are limited on how many hours they can work and stay retired
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I will take it from month to month and year to year. Just want to get things paid off and finished. Then try my hand at being self employed 100%. Mommy also wants New flooring and a nice savings account. I will good about it. Will have to changed a few things. Overtime is there if wanted. But I'm good with the raise and beaver trapping. Sarge

Rat holeing money foryour kids to spend not worth it Find out what you can draw then compare it to what you can make With gas going up it cost money have a job If your retired you can pick up side jobs when you want. If the side jobs plus your retirement equal or are higher then it’s a no brainer

Do what works best for you and your family. If you would put in 2-3 more years you would be getting an extra 20-30K which can be used to put more in retirement or other places. Also you will be using up retirement earnings 2-3 fewer years so the pot will last longer or more can be removed each year. Nothing wrong with working and keeping your businesses operational and then ramping up when more time is available. Another thing is with extra income one can replace depreciable items like stoves, refrigerators, furnaces, AC etc. and they won't be need to be changed as early in your retirement years. We also need to remind ourselves that as we age we may need different living situations and those cost money too.
Bryce Exactly what I'm doing now. I'm replacing every major appliance inside and outside. Ac and hot water tank just ran me nearly $8,000. Plus I'm in the process of a stove and new fridge. Trying to get some paid off before I buy more. Hate being in dept. Mommy wants a new roof in the spring. I want a new porch and hot tub. Sarge
