Seven years ago much to my dismay the wife came dragging home 8 pups and the mother dog. We ended up keeping one as an inside dog, again much to my dismay. Fast forward a few years and that dog became my 100 pound lap dog. We went everywhere together. We noticed her losing weight and took her to the vet and they said it was her Lyme's was acting up. Yesterday morning she would hardly move, I rushed her to the emergency vet and she was plum full of cancer. I got to lay down and hold her while they put her to sleep. Hard pill to swallow today. Just plain out sucks.

The worst part of owning a dog is always the end. It's hard to see them get old.

I shadow what others have said here. Good dogs never seem to be around long enough.

Good dogs never last long enough for sure. I sure hope there is a rainbow bridge like folks say.

All of our dogs were the same age and are dying off left and right lately. Lost two last two years, lost one last week and have a beagle heading down that road with Cushings disease now. No more dogs at my age. Just too hard to deal with when you are older.

I know how it feels, you sure have our sympathy lost our son last week to boot.
