I am waxing my dirt and the mixer is starting to turn its self off. Could the heat from the torch be causing it to do that. I works fine when I turn off the torch. Will letting it cool off between buckets help?

Let’s see, works fine with the torch OFF. But overheats and shuts off when the torch is ON. Hmmmm?

If your getting the motor hot enough to shut off you need to move your torch

Maybe the mixer doesn't like the smell of burned propane. Weeping Jesus on the cross. What do you think it is? You come on here and say it works fine with out the torch, but ask if it could be the torch? I think you are not a real mechanically inclined type guy. Is this rocket science? I think most lawyers could figure this one out.

I take the cover off, if there is one. Have ran a fan on it before also.

Move torch so it points to the front or opening of the mixer run all day long in 85 to 90 degree heat .

What kind of mixer are you using? I use a HF lil red unit and it's
never shut off. I use a rosebud (track torch, weed burner, etc)
for my heat and never have had a problem. It's pointed at the drum
at a low hum, but never amy hotter. Bad mixer?

Well Jim, I'll brave the crowd in an effort to help you out...

I do like above with the HF mixer and weed burner on a very low setting. Burner simply propped against the drum opposite the motor and kept it monitored with the thermometer. Didn't keep track of the times but it seems like it took about 10 min or so to get it all warmed up to temp. After a point I turned the torch off and let it mix another few min until the dirt temp started dropping, then dump and spread to cool. Motor housing never got hot and didn't scorch paint or anything.
