Union here Dave. Easy to get on if ya pass a drug test. You will work hard and get dirty. You know what though, they'll pay ya for it.

Temp agency people are terrible, not one of them are worth a darn. That is what I’ve heard anyway, the positions I hire for require more than what the average temp agency person is capable of doing.

Dave, I've asked you multiple times on your various threads why don't you get a CDL and do day trucking...? Its got to be better than no raise, dangerous temp job working that press. Either you can't get a CDL or some reason don't like driving. It could be something you take into SS and make extra cash or make you not want to take SS at 62.

With a lot of turnover and shortages, many places like working with the temp agencies as they can rotate through the assigned employees and hire the ones that work out the best for them. Some people prefer working as temps as they like the changes, especially if they can find some long term temp positions. In the past many employers liked the temp system as many times they did not need or want long term employees, they used employees during the busy times. That has changed over the last couple years however. Our SIL owns a mechanical contracting business with about 60-70 employees. They have gone to getting staff right out of high school and finding those that can work and have good driver's licenses. The put them through the various apprentice programs and the employees pay back a specific amount if they don't stay with them for a specified time period. The younger employees are good at suggesting people they know that may fit in well.

Nothing good about working for a temp agency if one wants to get ahead in life and put together a decent retirement plan.

The agency is taking money that could go in the workers pocket.

I've had temps working for me a couple of times.
My take is that for the most part they are good workers of average intelligence.
I have offered a couple of them full time work after using them as temps.
They always decline. Seems they like to work for a short period of time then take off as long as they can, usually till they need money again, then repeat.

Floaters thru life it seems.

I like that one. I don't think my BiL would get if I told him that one, but it marks him. More steadily employed than perhaps what you described but no planning, no thinking ahead more than a month or so at a time. He'll die an poor old worn out man...

I retired from the Marines 2 years ago. I recently decided to resign from Law Enforcement and work on family and Jesus. I’m gonna be honest….it’s getting boring. Anyone need a leader around? Only thing I won’t do is electrical work. Lol. Anyone thinks not working is fun, try it. It’s the most boring 8 months I’ve had outside of summer where we were camping and visiting national parks.
