I got a couple beaver to take out at one of my farms. I don't have any beaver traps but will offset coil #3 coil springs that I use for coyotes do the job? I didn't know about toe catches and stuff like that.

I would be hesitant to us it just for the fear of educating the beaver and then making it harder then need be. I would guess if you get a back foot catch you would be fine.

Target front feet. I use offsets for beaver a lot of times my state only allows 6.5 jaw spread so I’m always targeting a front foot. Use a breasting stick to make them put there front feet down sooner. I know offsets are not a beaver trappers choice of trap but I’ve never had any issues with them and I know a guy that catches 100s of them using number 3s offset.

Front feet and heavy tension should get you a deep enough catch.

That’s what I use is k9 extremes. I go straight from coyote trapping to beaver trapping with them. Like mentioned above high pan tension helps a lot mine are around 4.5 and 5 pound.

I wouldn't hesitate to use them if it's all you got!

First beaver I ever caught was on a mb550 offset and he didnt make it to end of the drowner and was not very happy when I arrived. At the time it was what I had to set up this spot.

They'll work fine.I know some on here don't think much of offsets on beaver, but when I lived in southern Michigan with its large metropolitan areas I used 4 coiled No.3 victors that were offset that worked fine.
