Can confirm. Very tough. I stand on mine when I need to reach up a little bit but don't want to grab a ladder for something quick.

I like the way that they nest inside one another to save space, but you must make certain that nothing obstructs them from closing completely.

I have used the 12 by 12 by 30 Williams cage trap for 25 plus years. I have repaired the wire on the pans on some and also the bar can be fixed up. These are the gravity close type with no bait door or container. I stake them well so the coons don't tip them over.

I've had smart coons figure out that trick and dig the bait out from sides. Deep hole might make that a bit harder. I like hanging the bait better.

Never thought of that, thanks for the insight!

Another thing to consider is the size of the mesh.
1/2"by 1" will add considerable weight and stiffness, but will also prevent them from reaching in for the bait and dragging everything within reach into the trap once caught (for example, a half a roll of baler twine).
