Any of you guys ever heard of Evergrande?

The Chinese are nervous about how their real estate bubble is going to unpack. Also another large Chinese developer is on the verge of default.

Is this effecting the fur market? I don't know but I also don't see how it's possible it doesn't..

Has anyone contributing here trapped and sold fur from the 1960's? If you have, then this is not for you. For the rest, you have participated in two booms and 2 small downturns where pictures of catches on barns and in the pickup bed have jaded your definition of Fur Harvesting. I remember bounty on fox and coyote and big prime December Western Heavy coons selling for $0.75 - year in and year out. Muskrats and mink were about the only consistent saleable fur items (prior to the Scandinavian mink ranch explosion). A lot of those mink are gone so again the 'rats will be saleable but this current market downturn (for perishable goods) may last for as long as people around the world do not have much expendable incomes. Every written article encourages folks to "Get out and Trap" and I would ad "only what YOU can afford" as that will produce some release for animal conflict and some fur exposure for the market (and society). "Wildlife has either a positive or negative VALUE to society" (my quote from the habitat classes I taught). We are again experiencing a shift more to the negative side in this market downturn and I cannot fault anyone for trying to reduce their economic loss with it. So plan your activities accordingly and if you gamble (either up or down) enjoy your time in the field, forest, lake or marsh, as that is a lot more precious than a $40.00 coon................................... the mike P.S. Don't bring up inflation... just send me a PM if you have a disagreement.

Right. Money can't buy happiness. But it can make misery more enjoyable.

Life ain't supposed to be easy.

Well, I sure didn’t mean to upset the folks that I did when I put this topic on here. If I made you mad, that sure wasn’t my intention.
Been called a lot of things in my day, but “drama queen” is a new one lol!
But apparently the tidbit of information that I heard was spot on. I had confidence that it was, but I wanted to confirm.
If you will read my original post, I was clearly seeking information. I personally don’t care what the causes of sudden fur market downturns are, especially a week before season opens here. This certainly changes my plans for the season. The lab and the beagles will be seeing more action than originally planned lol.

My plans too, Clay! And I've known you for a spell, and know your no drama queen! lol. Will trap myself for enjoyment, and catch some fur, ya can't sell it if you ain't got it, and you never know when the price will turn around. Enjoy your season, no matter what you do!

YOU CAN IGNORE REALITY, BUT YOU CANNOT IGNORE THE CONSEQUENCES OF IGNORING REALITY.

Chinese financial crisis looming. On scale of Lehman Bros in 2008. We may have much bigger problems to worry about than fur prices.

Thanks Lee.
Yea, I’m gonna trap. I’ll do my pay beaver gigs. Trap rats too. Catch some otter along the way. Catch a few cats behind my house.
The 16 hour days and skinning until midnight probably ain’t gonna happen lol.

Clay I consider you a friend, always have since we met, and I assure you the drama queen comment wasn't directed at you. I apparently worded it wrong though as it seems folks thought it was. lol

No sweat Jayme!
I consider you a friend as well.
It’s all good.
Just talked to Trevor Barnes. Sounds like coyotes are the most uncertain for him.
It’ll be what it’ll be!
