The test results Takes 10 days not 3 to 4 weeks.
Regardless, it's ecological biohazard and should be Burned. If you pay the expedited fee, sure, you can get results in 10 days. My deer I killed in Wyoming this year they told ne to freeze for 3 weeks til results are back, or I could pay to have results in 10-14 days. Straight from their mouths. Still doesn't answer the question of how many people have the room to store deer for anywhere between 10 days and 3 weeks just to be told to dispose of it if it tests positive.

Is killing deer to throw them away, any different then trapping worthless fur that brings a couple dollars?

There's a lot of good meat going to waste right there. As compared to the WI solution which was to…let CWD run rampant? No wasted animals in that scenario. bblwi is completely right, this is a disposal issue and not a management issue.

I would hope that most people making the effort to hunt deer would have the room to store the processed venison once they get one. Sure it would suck to have to dispose of it in the unlikely case it tests positive, but you need somewhere to store it anyway if it tests negative.

As I remember quite vividly when it first came about here the DNR gave out 4 tags a day and the season ran for a long time in those units which were right above where I live. I also used to hunt in Richland county and in the Muscoda area on public ground. You couldn't find a deer to shoot in those areas because everyone was shooting them all with the unlimited tags. I quit going up there as there's no point in wasting time and gas to not see anything. Never mind there are thousands of acres of private ground that no one can hunt or only a few deer will be taken off of in a years time. Face the facts once it's there it going to be there. To say the WI DNR didn't do anything when this first started here would be flat out wrong. I really don't think some of you comprehend that most ground is privately owned and you can't just go in there and start shooting deer because you want to. It doesn't work that way. CWD isn't going anywhere. BTW way did any of you click on that link I posted earlier in this thread or look at where CWD can be present? https://www.hunttalk.com/threads/wh...ears-of-direct-involvement.294614/page-5

I have never read where there has been a case transmitted to humans anyone heard anything different. I believe in early November of 2020 a nationwide test showed approximately 81 million cases were “supposedly” accounted for. Hard to say though, many of the test results mysteriously vanished. Lol

If CWD greatly decreases deer harvest and thus we have deer all over the place like rats you'll see one of the greatest ecological disasters ever That may hold water if CWD didn't kill deer. I have spoke to some people here that say in some areas you could find a lot of dead deer and by the time the season opened you could not find a live one. Mother nature can kill off more faster than man. Do you think they try to stop the spread because it increases the deer population?

Is killing deer to throw them away, any different then trapping worthless fur that brings a couple dollars? Yes, no matter the dollar amount for the fur it IS getting used. Just because you don't get what you want doesn't make it used as a jacket etc.. any different.

Sorry, I need more context than a couple pics. I once was stoped by a DNR cop saw my deer while he watched for them from overpass watching for just that. Unknown to me where I was hunting was a covid state. I was coming home to Indiana he said I could not take the deer across state line he would have to confiscate it. I asked what would happen to the deer. He told me they have a spot to put them and a DNR employee will pick them up. While he had me pulled over another truck drove past he told me to stay he will be right back, he went and stoped the other truck, presumably to do the same thing. I don't know how many he got that day but if it was his job for the day I bet it was several he had to have somewhere to put them while doing his job. I'm guessing this is what the pic is. No reason I can see for that many deer to be dropped in one place. No other trash just deer carcasses. Naaa something ain't right about those pics.
