To charge an electric car or truck, anyone know?
I see that gas is going up so electric vehicles will gain popularity but the cost is unknown, at least to me.

We all are already paying more for electricity to subsidize the environmental Nazis and their love for the phreakus

I was talking to a big dog from Nebraska Public Power (doing some knowledge gathering, as I am on the local county P & Z board )about wind farm , solar, gas, coal and nuclear power generation capabilities in the future. He said there is discussion by leadership about how much power will be needed if .... and that's a big IF ....electric vehicles can ever be developed enough to become a fixture in modern day transportation. It seems that many think it will put a load on our grid way more than the development of air conditioning in modern times. It will take a massive influx of new power sources as much of our generating capabilities are nearing the end of their expected life. I personally think the development of any mass electric source of transportation is a generation or two away. What ever happens, you can rest assured it won't be cheap.

Every car maker is developing electric vehicles. This could be the biggest financial screw up pushed by the current administration. I just wonder if in the next 3 years if we the tax payers will subsidize the auto makers or have they already and the fake news won’t discuss it!

Something that’s bothering me is the guy that has an order for thousands of electric cars ….Elon Musk…who is he and where did he get his wealth. Is he also an artist? Lol

My brother-in-law has a chevy volt all electric. He loves it and claims that it costs about a quarter of what it cost to operate is old gas car. I see nothing wrong with developing the electric technology. The problem is that mandating it will cause huge problems with the electric grid as it is not capable of handling all that charging capacity. They are already working on that and have been for quite a while. There are already prototypes of small nuclear reactors that will supply a remote off grid town of 10,000 people with all the electricity they will ever need, also remote mines and other remote areas where industry needs electricity. These small reactors also eliminate the need for extensive cross country powerlines. They can also be moved around if needed.Amazing new technology on the horizon. These small nuclear reactors apparently are much easier to shut down safely if there is a problem that needs addressed and then put back on line.No risk of meltdown.

I ran some numbers the other day , it depends a lot on how much your electricity costs it varies a lot
the other thing is it depends on how you drive and if you use the heat or air
you will find a lot of numbers figured on the max mileage per charge , but most people don't get any where near max if they like riding in the comfort of heat or air.
now if it is 65 degrees out sure you can get much closer to max mileage
between 9 and 18 dollars an average of about 13 dollars it also depends on the car
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

If this ever really takes off, and I doubt it does, battery swaps would be the more likely answer to keeping vehicles down the road. right now the batteries are about 16K and they take around an hour to change with a car lift and a apparatus to set the battery on a big cart that gets rolled in under the car while it is up on the rack , unbolt the battery most of the way , lower the car on to the cart take out the final bolts and then raise the car back up , high voltage electrical connections , cooling lines also connect the battery it is a long ways from tossing another battery in your drill and making more dirt holes. I am sure it could be made better should make Nascar go EV they would figure out quick change battery tech in a season

Electric vechiles are a farse at this point. Great in theory, but too many holes in the "science"!.. +How long does it take to charge a battery? +Can one switch batteries that have been charged? (Is it that easy) +If I happen to go on a long trip, can I do it non-stop? (I.e. changing batteries) +(as mentioned) what does it cost me at home to charge said vechile? +What happens when my battery(ies) no longer accept a charge? +etc, etc, too many questions for me!

That seems like it would be quite a security issue.
Zim How so? they only have to be refuelled once every 25 years.

I'm pretty sure the U.S. Navy figured all that out in the 1950's.
