I just read where Deere has invested in the company Clearflame to perfect their all ethanol burning engine to replace the diesel engine, here’s a link to the clearflame website, this could be a game changer.

They'll mix a touch of gasoline in ethanol so keep it from being drinkable

A lot of farms used to use it in motors and had stills on the farm. After filling stations used to be fewer and further from farms. Then the goverment made making your own illiegal.

The old is new again. But will never produce as much power.

The claim is that the power drop is minimal, I’d have to see it to fully believe it but there is a possibility that it can with the advancement in technology.

Energy density of diesel is 40 megajoules per liter opposed to 25 mj/l for ethanol .......... So you'll need more of the stuff to get the same work done. Sorry about the megajules and liters but I am metric.

For the Savels around here its the difference between Sheiner bock and bud light .... you need more of one for the same buzz

I hope it works out well, sure will be a way to use up a lot more corn and not have to rely as much on exports. Engine durability and length of life will be something to review. Not cheap to replace a 400 hp tractor engine.

Don’t worry scuba Deere doesn’t worry about the amount of fuel used. crazy I should have clarified my point more, it was they maybe able to get close to the same amount of torque as a diesel vs a conventional gas.

I am not worried Bob, my tractor is a Yanmar smile And it drinks less than the guy driving it and as it is a diesel , there is not competition for the alcohol. I like it that way .... cheers

It will take a lot of tax dollars to make it work.

Just think of the second and third level changes that could start. Higher price for corn, higher price for food, higher price for feed/meat/eggs, changes in crop rotations and acreages, water, lower bean exports, etc etc etc.

Will government still subsidize ethanol ? Will it even be allowed ? It is still an ICE. Can't have that !

If Deere makes it, it'll be 10 times what it should cost. Anything and everything corn related would skyrocket in price like has already been stated.

Deere Has a Strike going on now........The announcement of almost 5 billion projected profit combined with the CEO getting a 160% raise did little to lower union workers expectations..A new third pay tier determined by hiring date is also a big issue.

I know a couple of guys that walking picket lines and this is some of the issues that are important to them.

Management just made another modified Last/Best offer to the membership...Vote tomorrow I believe.

The John Deere 1650 is somewhat fuel efficient. It's made by Yanmar.
