Anybody own/use an Echo brand saw, and how do you like it? Good points? Bad points?

I bought one last year after I got sick of trying to nurse my Stihl back to working condition every time I picked it up. Still pretty early to say, but I'm happy so far. To be fair, its a much bigger saw than my Stihl, so it's not apples to apples. I don't know that you can get more for your money than the 590. Echo uses a lesser grade of plastic so they don't look at pretty as a Stihl, but it run and cuts and that's all I care about.

Have nothing current to comment on. When they first were brought to my attention they were very poor quality. Long time ago though. Difficult to get started wouldn’t stay running overheated easily (Phoenix) was on the job so didn’t have a lot of patience with finicky saws. Stihl and homelite were go-to. Huskies now

Chain Saw Good points? Bad points?

I didn't think modern day chain saws had points.
Now, my Stihl Farm Boss and my old Evinrude's got points.

Been looking at them, but they ain't cheap! Best saws I ever owned were a John Deer, and 2 Craftsman, made by Poulan I thinkl, till they got stolen.

My buddy has one. He doesn't cut a lot in a year but it works fine for him.
I think he has had one for 4 years now.

I have one of their smallest trim saws. Its only 4 lb and 25cc so low on power but that was tbe trade off for half the weight. It also cost half as much as the sthil and huskies. I can buy the biger echo 355 and have 2 saws for the price of the others. It dose what I ask it to.

My ground saws are stihl primarily my 361. I have an old 029 i bought when i was 18 and i wore out two of their trim saws.

I just looked at saws last week at my saw building hope them up shop. Im looking for something light for my boys to start using and echo is what caught my eyes.

They are the easiest to start saws i have ever used. My last echo trim saw was good but didnt hold up to getting ran over by my truck.

Huskies are popular with the loggers around here.

I got a 365 husky the last time around. Came with 3 years warranty and 5 if you got 3 liters of premixed fuel with it plus they have lifetime warranty on the electrical. I cut about 60 to 80 face cords of wood a year and have not had any problems in 7 years.

I've had mine for about 5 years. It starts every time and it often sits for 8 months between starts. Few small motors do that. I'm very pleased with mine.

I used a large echo last year for a few days. It was a little slight on power compared to my husky, or my stihl, but it did a really good job. If I was to buy a new saw I would lean real hard toward the echo.

I also have a smallish echo from the 90's. Best small saw I have ever ran. I run a 14" bar and chain and it never lets me down.

If your into the internal workings on any saw look up this fella on the tube, hotsaws 101. This fella is a pro and seems to be very direct and honest. He just did a bench talk video on a big echo he had tried out.

Echos are great. My only gripe is they have oddball bars. If you want a good starting chainsaw...Echo it is.

Light duty or heavy duty use? Get a Husqvarna 450 Rancher.

Right now at least in this area parts for stihl and husky are like impossible to get . Mine gets used a lot and any problems I have had were my fault . They’re also carbureted still and the big pro saws that stihl makes are all efi.
And I know a few people that have bought new stihl s and can’t get them running right , or parts or service .

Anyways whatever saw you decide on don’t buy a cheap anything . Get the pro series across the board
