Took a decent 8 pointer. Long days in the woods.

https://www.ajillis.com/product/deer-and-antelope-game-bags-6pcs/I have liked this cheap full set of game bags I bought. They are on the large side considering I fit whole bone in elk quarters in the largest of them. They don’t have them bells and whistles others have like reflectors and colors, but they keep the bugs out, breathe, and have been tough so far. In the areas you public land guys in WI are hunting, are you tripping over other hunters so to speak? I hear both sides……some I talk to say not much, others say every ridge I has a hunter. That’s part of the reason we’re thinking muzzy would be nicer. Happy trapping! ScottW

I shot 2 one late morning and one just minutes before last light Saturday I sitting on the same log for both of them and they were only about 30 yards from where the other had been , good spot . downside a long drag out probably only a 1/4 mile but it sure felt longer being all up hill and over so many rocks and logs there were spots with no fur left on the side it was dragging on.
first time leaving one in the woods over night , but recovered it as soon as I had light and it was fine
I shot it and it wandered off not too fast, I followed it after a little wait thinking the shot I had was good it had gone about 75 yards I jumped it just after last legal light decided it was hurt good but it was too dark to see the blood trail and it looked to be hurt from the way it was moving , I put in a way point at that spot on my gps and knew the log it had gone right next too figuring if I jumped it once more it might go on to the next property . in the morning below freezing over night I walked right to that way point jumped another deer on the way didn't shoot that one knew it wasn't my deer , mine was piled up just 60 yards past the log, I found blood at the log and we followed it. it was probably dead before I had the way point in the GPS but I didn't know that. I thought I was shooting at a big doe turned out to be a big bodied very short rack spike just under legal buck , I had both tags so either would have been fine.
that bullet worked well shame I can't find any more have about 20 left , it hit a little lower than I had intended I have to re check my zero
both deer were taken with the 300 blackout pistol

My son shot his best deer ever Saturday morning around 8:15. Shot it with 270 at 85 yards and literally dropped it in it's tracks. I've seen and tracked a lot of deer over the years people have shot. Think this is first one went straight down never even kicked a leaf out of place. He said when he shot it just disappeared. He stayed on his stand and directed me threw the woods to it. This is considered a big buck for public land in Clark Co and I have to agree. Right place at right time I guess is what it takes. I seen two does Saturday and four deer on Sunday. Wind was brutal Sunday even had couple tree fall lose enough make a guy jump. Mac

we have found the more people in the cedar swamp the more deer we see you basically can't see past 70 yards in most cases they will easily go around you if you are 1 person
