Just looking at the price of trap baskets an phew gonna take a lot of raccoon to pay one off! Whats a resourceful fellow use for a trappers basket? Obviously buckets but I cant fit a 330 in a bucket very well. Lets see some of those improvised packs!

Made one about 8 years ago out of two milk crates and some zipties with an old seatbelt from the junk yard as the shoulder straps. It was the most uncomfortable thing I've ever carried but it served its purpose

There are some guys that use the military pack frames with trash cans and other things. I'm sure they'll chime in

This is really the only picture I have where you can see it. Good luck!

.If you have a packframe take the bag off and fasten on a kitchen garbage can.

Wooden boxes on the front and rear of the ATV work well!

I found this trap basket on Kanaga island AK. It is the first Island west of Adak. I was around 1500 miles from Homer, which is where we left from. I can say I really like it. It is some what a different design than most trap baskets you see, but it served me so well I hauled it home. I kept the helmet too. It kept your hood and cap on in the wind and in the skiff while running traps. You can see by the slant of my whiskers there was just a breeze that day. I must have had a long skiff ride to have on a float suite rather than a float coat. 5-6 hours in the skiff at 35-45 degrees will make you want your hood up.

Try a cat litter bucket. I can get at least three 330's in one.

Get a trash plastic trash can the size of the basket you want to use as a form. Get a fresh deer hide an flesh well you can then stretch it over the can with the hair on or slip the hair off and use it as raw hide. Sew it up with rawhide and let it dry. you can then slip out the basket or leave it in. This can be done hair out or in if you want it quiet. If you want you can even leave the basket in. These will take a beating, work good and look pretty neat. Put some straps on with adjustment buckles and your ready to go. On the ones I did I turned the top of the hide over on the top lip to make it stiffer. Put a piece of plywood in for the bottom as it takes a beating. I put a couple army surplus Pouches on the back for lures and they worked well.
