Is there a reason why? You'll catch some but you'll give some of the big ones a headache (and an education), making them a lot harder to trap the next time.

If you want to catch beaver use a beaver trap(330)

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

I've used 4'' dry cedar poles or 4x4s roughly 2 ft long wedge shapedbougt 6-8 inches wider than a 3302 nails where the springs go altho i screwed a piece of rubberbelting on that swivels to hold the springs a piece of foam or another couple pieces of 2x4 might have to be added on the trap end to support the weight of the trap front i nail a piece of board for lure i only used them in spring under roadside bridges for travelers work great 220s will set to low IMHO and beaver will crawl over them Google beaver floats you'll see lots

280's and larger have to be completely submerged in Iowa is why. 220's do not.

Here's the thread Bob... https://trapperman.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/7147840/2

If you’re going to go thru the trouble of a RBG, why not get the triggers below the water?

That was just standard trigger configuration of that trap when I took the picture. They have been bent down since then and the triggers are invisible to anything swimming on the waters surface
