Just got back from a pheasant hunt. I have a bunch of pheasant backs, legs and guts. I bagged it all to possibly use as a bait base.

My thought is to smash up the backs and legs with a meat clever. Then course grind it up bones and all. I have several bait solutions I could use on it.

Thoughts? Any experience with it? Just wondering if it worth the time and effort.

Just be careful there is a clause in not wasting any game meat depending on your local laws.

I had great luck couple years ago on chopped up pheasant parts, fresh frozen, and a little coyote pee at dirtholes.
Someone gave me a few of them cleaned from their hunting expedition, and we ate the breasts but the sinewy legs and backs was exactly what I chopped for bait.
Did same thing with accidental rabbit catches...they always get chopped up and stuffed down dirtholes.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.
