My beagle is so happy he has got the scraps from four turkeys this week . Nothing makes him happier than crunching a turkey bone . I feel bad for all the dogs that never get a bone from their owners

I thought you liked your dog?, why are you trying to kill it? Bird bones splinter into little needle like spears that can puncture it's intestines and cause peritonitis and KILL it.

Raw bones are fine but never cooked bones from turkey or chickens.

Friend had a high pedigree bird dog that was expecting a liter of puppies. He gave the dog turkey bones. Within an hour she was passing blood and died on his truck seat while racing to the vet.

ouch. what a sad story. i'd feel so guilty. i lost a springer spaniel that was my sidekick to a fire that was basically my fault when i was a kid & it took a long time to get over it. still hurts to think about.

No bones given to our dogs.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

My dogs can have any raw bones... and I'll occasionally give them a cooked ham hock.. but definitely no cooked chicken or turkey bones, may as well feed them glass.

Raw bird bones are fine. Have you ever found a dead coyote, fox or coon that died from eating bird bones?

How would you know that's what killed it?

How many do you find dead? They live on meat and bones.

You should probably get this advice from your vet. Give his office a call. I've only known one dog to puncture something in her digestive track with a turkey bone. It was an unpleasant experience. The dog kept trying to pass the obstruction, while blood was coming out of her rectum. It didn't take a trained vet to know that the dog was going to quickly die. Very sad. The incident happened shortly after the VietNam war. The owner was being treated by the VA for PTSD. So sad for the owner and the precious bird dog. I recall she was an English Setter.
