As of yesterday morning, I was a little worried we weren't going to have venison this year. A buddy called and said a friend of his shot a monster of a buck up in Buffalo County, and being a beef farmer, he really did not need the meat. My buddy asked if we'd want it and I answered with a quick "He** yeah!"

Son and I hunted one of our 300 acre turkey hunting farms in the afternoon. It's real bluff country full of deer sign. He took the high ridges and I walked the valley. 10 minutes before the close of shooting time. He got on the radio and said it was a long shot and he was not sure if he hit, so was going to look for blood. I stood there in the dark and about 5:15 he radioed again and said "Dad, I've got good blood!" About 5 minutes later he called and said "I got him!" One fine, long shot on a nice 8 pointer through the darkening woods. Proud of that boy!

The buck even had the common decency of running downhill, nearly to the trail. We got him gutted and dragged to the trail to meet the landowner on his Gator coming back to check on us because it was so late. He loaded everything up and drove us right to the back of my Suburban.

Took us a couple hours this afternoon to skin, quarter, and get them in a cold fridge to stiffen up. Both bucks were perfect shots with no meat wasted at all so the tribe will not starve!

Handled the Rams tonight. We'll have a new kicker next year.

Was at the game and pretty neat to see the retirement of Charles Woodson.
Hard to believe the Pack were 2pt underdogs.

Forever in debt to my Father who introduced me to trapping.
May I be half the man he was.

I could be wrong but I believe Woodson was the only Defensive player to ever win the Heisman- we celebrated with a couple bottles from his new wine collection during the Packer Party - great player!
