Going to try a canning recipe of liver and onions , it doesn't sound like it will work , but going to try it when canning something for the same time frame pressure canning. Might even add garlic .

I have tried it ,
remove and cut the connection off where you will see the green bile
then soak it in bucket of ice water over night
then in your bacon grease fry onions and thin slices of the liver so that it cooks quickly and evenly
It tastes ok , but I am not a liver texture fan

I cook big pieces of chopped onions in lard until they are translucent and then add slices of well rinsed deer liver and cook it until it's mostly brown with a little pink in the center. I add a small amount of water once the liver is browned.
I have eaten a lot of deer liver over the last 32 years. One of the last deer livers I cooked was inedible for me. I don't think I got any bile on it, but I don't know why else the flavor was so horrid.
I also like chicken, goose, beef, lamb and pork livers, but liver tastes best when I only eat it once in a while. I think our bodies need the vitamins in liver occasionally, which is why it tastes good as long as you don't eat it to often.

Just boil it for a little while. no salt or pepper as it makes the dog thirsty.

a friends mom used to make us deer gravy
that was some good stuff
bring your hearts in a plastic bag and send them home with him , his mom made it up and sent it back to work with him in a big Tupperware bowl we would toast bread in the break room toaster and eat deer heart gravy for lunch all week

I like caribou and moose liver cooked at someone else’s house, in someone else’s frying pan for someone else to eat. Don’t like liver.

This year was the first liver I found without flukes. Still left it where I found it. I don't know if deer can pass them on to humans but I'm not interested in eating liver so I haven't looked into it.
Life sure is tough when you don't learn from the mistakes of others.

I don't like liver, heart, kidneys be it pork, beef, or especially venison. Liver is great for weasel trapping, though.
I don't care how nice the hand soap smells, you should never walk out of the restroom sniffing your fingers.
