I'm planning another 3 nighter in the woods but I'm doing it with a twist. The usually yote sets. Normal sleeping gear, tarp shelter but I'm not bringing any food, only water. I'm gonna only eat what I can catch or cook. I have loads of spending days in the woods but never tested myself with no food
Any suggestions or guidance by any of you?
God I really don't know if I can see myself eating a possum.. alot of the critters I'm seeing are not open season yet. I'm bringing a 22 and 12 shotgun. There's loads of buzzards back there but I'd rather go hungry than touching a buzzard

Go somewhere you can trap beaver. You'll eat like a king.

We tried that as 18 year olds. Took a dozen worms and a case of bud for 3 days in the canyon. Burnt all the hair off our arms trying to flip fish in the camp fire and trying to brush your teeth with flat beer isn't much fun lol.

Brings back some fond memories

We did that as boy scouts for three days. Went in the summer. Lots of plants to eat. Caught bull frogs, snared a couple rabbits. caught fish. We didnt feast but never got real hungry. Was a lot of fun. Had several prep weekends learning how to forage. We each had a rain poncho for sleeping/shelter. Took a few feet of fishing line and hooks each. We each got a box of matches. We each had a pocket knife. Had a large empty can for cooking and boiling water. seems like we had one can for four boys if i remember right.

Just my experience lots to eat in the south east part of the country, dont try it here in the west unless you want to eat bugs or poach.

We did the survival camp out w/boy scouts also. We had a blast and found a rock overhang for a shelter.

Cat tail roots...good as celery
Frog on a stick, over campfire
Some small bird. Yes roasted...I'm no crazy Man, or boy at the time.
Field corn , tried to make flat cakes on a hot rock. Ice, too starchy.

Been there, done that.

So. It's fun; bring water and snacks.

I did survival, escape & evasion training down by you at fort polk. my platoon was given a live rabbit, duck, & chicken and a bag of rice, plus whatever we could forage. we cooked in a 50cal ammo can. the next day we were given 1 MRE and two quarts of water, busted up into two man teams with a compass & had to cover 15 or so clicks in ruffly 24hrs. while a LRSD (LRRP's) Co. hunted us. our photocopies of a topo map were marked with a false pickup point incase we got caught, Got close to being busted once but made it. two guys never got the chance to flee and had the unfortunate experience of being "interigated"
slept wrapped in a poncho & remember how i woke up soaked even tho it didnt rain. the bugs down there loved to chew on us yankee's too lol

I've fasted for 3 days many times and would again before I ate possum or a buzzard.

I fasted for five days but not by choice, the plane was late picking me up. I hit the first store I could find and started consuming candy bars. My bowels were in an uproar for a week.

Limb rats ought to be plentiful and with a couple heavy duty snares might even drum up some oink.

In your country I would look to the water for food. Heck I know you already do.

Might want to take some emergency high carb foods in case your sugar goes too low. Don't have to use them but if you need them eat them and get going home...There is always another day.
