Anyone on here deal with cerakote? I have a beretta a400 xplor model 28ga that I would like coated. The receiver is already bronze cerakote from the factory and the barrel is blued.

The bluing is like a rust magnet and I'll be hunting the saltwater next month so I would like to have the barrel cerakoted so I don't get any rust.

I love the look of the gun now, so I want to try to match the bluing the best I can with cerakote. From my limited research H-238 Midnight Blue may be the closest I can get.

Any input? Thanks!

Id like to hear about it too. My EDC pistols always get the blue worn off the slide and I might consider Cerekote.

not cerakote , but you might try Hornady one shot cleaner and dry lube , it is a cleaner, lube and rust inhibitor.

might be worth a try before sending the gun out to be coated and the expense

as I understand it the coating has some thickness and could be an issue with barrel lockup contact points

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

G96 and One shot are what I currently use, I agree it does great with fighting off the rust in normal conditions. Nothing can really cut it in the saltwater though. I've been very impressed with how the cerakote guns have held up to the salt

The portion of the barrel that fits into the receiver would not be cerakoted, just as it is not blued.

I'm hoping I can get a good deal on the coating. A friend of mine does it. I'm just not sure which color I should tell him to order

I have a Ruger Wrangler with the cerakote finish that is my trap line gun. All I know is that it isn't as durable as I'd like it to be.

Just wash it with a water hose or take it in the shower with you every night. Hunted saltwater for years and just washed it down after each hunt, still no rust.

Had some wolf traps cerokoted....they r submerged in saltwater and held up very well.
I was impressed.
Also had a ruger mark 2 dispatch pistol done in black and it has held up nice as we are splashing around the salt often.

Ditto.

Mines been riding in the holster just two weeks now and substantial wear at the “rub points”.

Good blueing is more holster durable than cerakote apparently.

I think the toughest when it comes to holster wear is probably parkerized.

I don't know why trapdog had a bad experience with cerakote on his trapline gun, maybe the manufacturers don't apply correctly from the factory? I'm sure if it wasn't baked correctly or applied too thin it would be brittle. I have had no issue with any of the cerakote I have even after much abuse.

Cerakote is much more durable than a parkerized finish. Parkerizing pretty much just holds oil and uses that as its protection

What would be the bees knees would be cerakote over the parkerizing. Then you have all means of protection

Cerakote withstands 5,000 wear cycles per . 0001 mil of finish when applied correctly. It's very, very tough
