Wonder if poor option with the fur market in crapper or if possible by spring an summer, a little more money then what might get from any buyers even left ? Not sure how u could get worse prices , alot complaints about real cheap sales , when the pandemic was only months old, there policy is unlike nafas, to sell before next season , nafa was much bigger, dont know of differences

They will hold the line on good fur if not offered market price. Poor fur with little or no value will be freely sold into the market.
You may or may not like the market price.

It’s been awhile since I sent anything to FHA, how much are the shipping/drumming fees?

You may or may not like the market price. Or they'll NV 25 percent across the board. And ive heard that from several people across the country that shipped to them.not just "southern fur"

No matter if it was all the way to the Canadian border.

I havent shipped fur that dont cut the mustard for 4 or 5 years now. There is no advantage to the trapper or the auction house to put that type of fur into the market the last bunch of years. There are other markets for fur that does not sell well at the international auction,if you want to take the extra effort to meet that market. They do a good job of moving it nontheless.
I think the big problem is a lot of trappers cant manage basic fur grading at all.

Well I think that there iare some fur graders who are biased against certain sections of fur.
They need to grade the furs quality and not its origin.
And depending on where you are trapping some october yotes are better than late December ones. I dont care what some know it all's think.
Weve had the fur checks. To prove it.

And send the NVs back so the trapper can learn what not to send.
Don't sell em out the back door to cover expenses.
Why is a number 2 an NV?

Why is a number 2 an NV? You had coyotes grade no value at fur harvester's?

Why is a number 2 an NV? On most species in this year's market a skin Graded as a II will be worth little to nothing. Returning fur that has no value to the producer would cost the auction house a fortune, thousands and thousands of skins. The labor and the shipping would likely come close to negating any profits, and those are pretty slim now. AND, the auction house does not sell them out the back door and cheat the trapper to cover expenses, the grades that sell are Select, #1, and I-II, anything of less quality will likely not sell, at least this year. By law they have to turn NV or unmarketable pelts over to the Provincial Government for disposal because every skin in Canada is tracked and accounted for, from the time it enters the country to the time it's sold or destroyed because it's unmarketable. Lastly, most places a December pelt will have more value than the same skin taken in October.

Coon will stay depressed, same thing NAFA was saying a couple years ago and same thing Groeny said. I don't know who else needs to say it.

Lastly, most places a December pelt will have more value than the same skin taken in October. Spot on. NV policy is spelled out in conditions of sale. You know it before you consign fur to the auction. So just keep that fur in the first place, until the market starts vying for it again.Or better yet start a bit later and quit a bit earlier. As a sidenote-very few pelts in the overall picture are actuall destroyed (No Value). The auction house does a very good job of selling the Low Value skins, which,in reality are basically no value skins.
