With her Chevrolet Impala. About a mile and a half from home, on her way home from work. A little button buck, messed up the hind quarters pretty good and the sheriff shot it 6 times to kill it. I wasn't sure if it was legal for me to dispatch before they got there. Especially on private land. Car is tore up a bit, wife is fine physically. She is a bit shook up though. Now we get to deal with insurance and repair or replacement. The car is an 08 with 125000 miles.

got my first one with a vehicle this year , it ran right into the side of my bumper it was out like a light probably before it even rolled down the side of the expedition.

much easier now that all we have to do is register it online when you get home, well if you don;t need it dispatched.

Yeah, not sure if it'll be totalled or fixed. Definitely needs hood, bumper, grill parts, airbag sensor (light is on, but bag did not deploy). No fluid leaks or noises when running, so don't think it got into core support or radiator, but I haven't opened the hood yet.

When I smoked a 14 pointer about 15 years ago, I did 7k in damage to my 96 Chevy truck.

I passed on this one, both rear legs were busted. We found numerous bone chips in the road. And, well, 6 shots went into it.

I had that happen in Merrill , Wisconsin.
Cop took the spread legs stance and both hand gripping his gun shot the deer 3 times to kill it, Through the lungs. I SAID THAT WAS STUPID. ONE shot to the head would have been faster.

Glad your Wife is ok.

I have skinned a few deer out that were road kill/ dispatched.
9 mm glocks are what our police use
the slugs do not go very far, most are just under the skin
head plates of deer is just under the skull
hope this does not break the dispatch rule.

Had a cop pull up to a coyote hit in the back end. It was down but going to take a long time to die. I sugesred he shoot it. He had me pull my truck forward when ther was no need, got his ear plugs then his tex book two handed bent knee stance then fired 2 or 3 shots behind its shoulder. But it was laying on its side back facing us and the shots did not enter the chest cavity. After a few mins i asked him to shoot it in the head. He said o it will bleed out. He did end uo shooting it in the head.

Guy needed some lessons. I just shook my head in disbelief.

Yup, cops putting animals down, town cop here shot a moose 100 yards from my house jus because he got sick of getting calls on it. Fand G were in control of the situation, but he took it onto himself to put it down He shot it 8 times, I could have killed it with one shot. Cops should stay away from wildlife.

Funniest one you will enjoy. I was in college, and had a couple run in with a serious PETA member. One morning she hits a fawn. When the state patrol officer pulled up and got out she was trying to comfort the deer that was flailing and hitting her with its front hooves. Back legs were broke. The officer told her to move aside so he could put it down, she proceeded to attack the officer. The officer cuffed her, laid her on the ground, and proceeded to shoot the deer once though. She was charged with assault on a law enforcement officer.

Sorry to hear about your wife, car and a deer. Usually not a good outcome. Glad your wife is safe. I have noticed two three times now after the season and the last days of young deer running almost aimlessly and crossing roads w/o stopping etc. Many of those are fawns being forced on their own by the rut or by having the adult does harvested. Interesting to read that the Farmland zones in WI were down a lot in deer harvested during the 9-day season and especially the antlerless harvest. The buck harvest was up almost 15% in the north woods but that is up from a low point. I saw more deer in the national forest this summer and fall so hopefully with some mild winters the population can come back some.

She probably thought the officer should have wrapped the deer in a blanket and taken it to a vet so they could splint the back legs. It probably had a broken back too. The officer did the right thing in putting the animal out of its misery and putting her in jail.
