How is your season going?

I've hunted everyday of rifle this year. I've seen deer everyday. Most of them were running full tilt over 300 yards away. My total is around 95 deer. Most of those were on the first 2 days.

I had one buck come to within 75 yards, and of course he stopped behind a big ole tree. So I couldn't get a count on his points. I'm pretty sue he was legal, but wasn't going to take that chance. When he finally reappeared he was about 250 yards away. He was definitely legal. He was also very smart. I swear he knew to turn behind that tree and I'd never be able to see him.

I finally took a big doe yesterday. Young deer, lots of fat.

I killed a buck an doe in archery season. Been trying to get my youngest boy on a buck or doe all rifle season it's been tuff. Seen probably 10 or so but none has given him enough time for a good shot. He's only 9 so he's shooting off sticks an by the time he gets them In position the deer are usually about out of sight lol but we're having fun anyways.

3 does in freezer. My two were inline and rifle. Wife's was rifle and her 2nd deer in her 2nd year of hunting. No bucks for us. Lost a shoulder hit buck in archery and that's it for me. We are set for meat. I cant complain but i do anyway.

I haven’t been out much, been too busy with work. Didn’t get out but a few times during the archery season.

I was out three days so far during the rifle season, partial days actually. I shot this doe last Saturday.

A buddy was putting on drives with ten other guys and killed this nice buck down in Adams County this afternoon.

They got nine deer out of eleven guys.

They changed the late season here in WMU 5C back to center-fire rifles for the first time in six or seven years. It was flintlock only during that time. That is my favorite season. So now I have all of January to hunt with the 06, I am really looking forward to it

Eh...wot?

First half-hour of the season. What's that saying about rather be lucky than good? I shoot any legal deer.

Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

Say thanks to Gary Alt.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

I always get asked this question... "Where do you see so many deer at? I'm lucky if I see 10 all season." My answer to that is..... I hunt the elk herd. Most people won't hunt in the prime elk range because of the fear of hitting an elk. While mine this year wasn't taken in "prime elk area" It was with a group of elk.

It takes a lot of patience to wait a deer out that is mingling with elk. I've waited on deer for over 2 hours to finally separate itself from the elk far enough for me to feel safe shooting it.

What is PA definition of "legal"?

In my county here in Texas they have to have 13" or greater spread or have one unbranched antler. Does are fair game in archery (October) season and some days in general/gun season.

Congrats to all of you that posted deer, definitely grow bigger bodies up there

PA legal is three points on one side in most of the state. Points must be at least and inch long and can include the brow tine.

In the western part of the state bucks must have three points excluding the brow tine.

Forty years ago I trapper fox & coon near Karthaus. I would see more than 100 deer a day when trapping. In 2009 I set a few traps on my old line. Saw 14 deer in a week of trap checking. Also, couldn't find a fox. There are a few elk there now.

The kids and I had a blast in archery season.
Morgan shot her first doe, Jackson shot a doe and a buck in the same night 5 minutes apart, I shot a free ranging Red Stag that had escaped a farm in Sept 2020 and had been roaming over 4 counties with a "kill on sight" target on his head, and finally Emma shot her first buck at 12 steps from the ground. Freezer is full. Life is Good.

Been a strange season. Very warm until 3rd week of October. I’ve been seeing deer but they were all small. Even the does were small. Shot a medium doe at the cabin last week of October. Saw 15 different bucks this year. Most I’ve seen in a couple decades in one season. Ended my deer hunting with a bow killed 2 1/2 year old buck yesterday. Freezer full. Trapping season starters for me on Sunday.
Good luck to everyone
