How many on here still shoot theirs? What is the going price on them today? Found one am looking at with a 222 barrel as well as a 45 colt/ 410. Not the encore.

I have an encore shot it last week. I have no idea what they sell for today. Bought mine when they first came out so around 20 years ago. I think it was 500-550 then.

haven't shot mine (G1) in a long time 500 + 200 per extra barrel Ya sometimes they go nuts on gunbroker mostly don't sell early ones (G1) are better quality then 1995's on up which is what i own
however i have a g2 rifle in 30-30 shoots cloverleaf's at 100 yds and love it plus you don't have to break it open if you let the hammer back down smile

Have a older model from the 80s 22 ,45 / 410 and 22 Jet .
Don't use it much but comes out a couple times a year. Not very practical
for hunting lots of better options.

Paid $ 210 for pistol new and $ 75 each for scoped barrels probably cost about that today.

I shoot mine (g1) and have 22,223,44mag,7x30, and 35rem barrels - i don't shoot the 44mag often as it is the most uncomfortable to shoot. Mostly have 22 barrel on it for grouse.

How is the best way to tell if is a G 1 or 2?

Thumb the hammer back then let it down, g1 won't (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) again until you open and close it.

Bought a Contender is 7-30W when I had my first rotator surgery. Shot it left-handed off sandbags in a box blind. Got hooked. Think I took five whitetails. Added two carbine barrels with scopes. Two kids have used it to take their first deer. Perfect starter rifle for a kid.

Yeah Buddy Cotton. Think my favorite one to shoot is the 17 Remington with bull barrel so far LOL

I've got a G1 with a 14" 7mm IntR barrel, a 10" .357 Max barrel, and a 10" .22 barrel. Shot them a fair bit in my IHMSA days back in the early 80's, but not much since. Would love to take a deer with the .357 Max. Maybe one day.

Like some have meantioned, its like tatar chips...you cant have just one! Pistols in 22Lr, 22 K-hornet, 357 mag, 357 Max 256 Winchester Mag, and 22Jet. The 10" 357 Max has a couple truck loads of deer kills to its credit. My favorite lately is the T/C contender carbine- older one set up with a 16" Bullberry barrel in 32-40 Winchester. I use quick detach rings and alternate between an ATN Thor thermal scope and a 3-9X standard scope mounted on it. 32-40W is a sweet little cartridge for plinking, hunting or match shooting.

Smith and Wesson is getting rid of or has already gotten rid of Thompson Center. Thompson Center prices online are going through the roof due to the fear you'll never be able to get another one again. I'm not sure if anyone has bought the company

Moral of the story, if you have something TC it's a sellers market. But I would hang on to it because who knows if the same quality will ever be available again

Gotta live up to the nickname...

G2;s frame has heavy sideplates cast in not flat like a G1 so no scroll engraving non-adjustable trigger barrels are kinda interchangeable between both gens by that i mean early barrels have split locking lugs later have solid with a slightly different profile easily switched I'm told stocks and grips won't interchange but can't say why
G2's are styled like the encore and will take higher pressure larger based cartridges like 375 win. 375/444 marlin and 444 marlin

From what Cotton says mine is G1.
Heavy and a halo ? battery powered site that I'm not crazy about,
I'd like a small caliber for it.
I call it the hand cannon.

Appears mine is a G 1 as well. Have a 45/70 barrel to make it a real hand cannon. The 22 hornet and 17 Remington are a lot more fun to shoot.

My super 14 .223 barrel is a tack driver, 7-30 waters is a deers nightmare. .22 barrel really shoots good too.
Not played with the 22 hornet yet

Yep 22 barrel does a fine job as does the 45 colt. Need to play more with the 17 Rem but looked promising. The hornet am still playing with as just read they made them in 3 twists according to the contender forum.Got a few powders may try in that.
