Has anyone caught wolf or coyote in baited milk crate or cubby sets with 330s ? I've had lynx and fox stick their heads in but not the big guys...yet..

I know of one in a 330, but a foothold in a cubby is POSSIBLE but not very probable unless you are dealing with pups..............even then it is not very probable

Yeah it's possible but if you are setting specifically for wolves I wouldn't waste my time with 330's.............unless that's all you have. Far better off with snares or #9 Alaskans..........if you can use them.

Not a go to set for wolf, but things do happen.I have heard of a few wolves being caught in 330's.
A buddy of mine had a bunch of beaver snarepoles (with snares hanging every whichway) stacked behind his outhouse.
He went out one night and found a dead wolf tangled up in about 20 beaver snares/poles.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

My thread was just to see the possibilities...I use cubbies with snares for lynx, milk crates with 330s for wolverine & trail & gang sets with snares for wolves...

Absolute waste of time for fur trapping or predator control of wolves and coyotes. Other species no problem.

The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.

I've caught 2 coyotes in 330 cubbies on 55 gallon drum sets and one by the foot in a 330 baited bucket. Accidents happen. No wolves ever worked any baited 330 cubbies back when I had wolves. Coyotes here can be pretty aggressive at times.

If I had more 330 on that line I would have caught 4 or 5 wolves. Must have followed the Porcupine caribou herd from the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge or someplace where they never see traps. They really went for that beluga oil and fish bait. Never moved after that 330 hit them I just had hay wire holding them.

Yes marten trapper I think I will take your advice. Use GPS and CT portage across them points. If a pack comes through should be able to snare a couple. Martentrapper do you recommend some bait midway or will that just make them suspicious and better to just rely on them wanting to take the most direct route. For a a 1 mile trail howmanny snares do you recommend and how far apart? Should I make some side trails with snares 20 yardsback from the snare to catch dispersing wolves?
