I stopped by the truck in Marshfield, I sold 3 early put up mink, 2 for 6$ 1 for 4$, a beaver tail for $. 75 and castor for #3 was 70.00lb. I didn't sell any rats as overall averages to those I talked to were from $1.73 to $3.00. I didn't happen to see anyone's collection s but they must have had smaller sizes compared to the price structure.
I heard 2xl for 5.00 1xl 4.25. not sure the remainder of breakdown. Overall seemed like good people running it.
I was surprised at the prices for mink considering they were blacker than a struck match early skins.

All put up.

Coyotes
1 at $18.00

3 at 12.00

6 at 8.00

7 at $2.00

Rats went from 4.25 down to .75 cents. Pretty tough grade on rats.

The one mink went for $4.00

Everything was put up.

Don't know If I'm going to keep on trapping coyotes or not.

$6.82 average in 17 WI yotes and $5.14 average on 7 WI coon. I know the coon market is poor, but I sure did not know the coyote market was going to tank that fast and hard.
Sure appears to be a rough grade on rats. The past few years, size has been the driver and now it seems grade is what will keep averages low. It does not appear that a typical lot of WI fall rats will even average a gallon of gas right now.
Thanks for the reports they help decide my marketing strategy if one can call it marketing.
Bryce

Seems it would be a tough way to make money throwing 90% of your catch in the ditch. Be easier to catch 0%.

Its been warm here. Probably be January before I set a trap. Any slight at all coyote wont get skinned. Any coons that have a rub or broke or scratch neck and wont stretch 32 are not getting skinned either

Sold 8 beaver this morning for just under 8 bucks average. Did 3.50 average on rats. He did say I had the highest average on those that he had paid. There were some very big Sugar River rats and no damage. Declined offer of 25 on big dark otter and also kept my mink.

Very nice people and would definately deal with them again.

My buddy rode with me and had 2 deer hides he got a buck each for them.
The beaver were In the large grade.
The only real money I made was the put up I did on Longrangekillaers fur.
Yes the coyote market realty sucks but they are WI coyotes and they even suck In a strong market.

As to enjoying putting up $2.00 coyotes. I don't even enjoy putting up $20.00 coyotes. And Wadell told me he caught 29 yotes Saturday. Hope he gets more then $20.00 each for them. I just can't imagine having to skin that many coyotes.

Trevor rocked for me, twice what I got for mink at FHA last September, and a quarter more average for my 60 rats than GFW gave last year

I have 2 taxidermist that keep hounding me for fur. I get a minimum of $30 for fox and coyote, $25 for mink frozen whole, $7 opossums froze whole, $10 ermin froze whole, minimum *80 for rabbit backed unspotted bobcat. $40 otter. All larger skulls $2 each. Chipmunks $3 each, mice .75 each. Rats whole frozen $5. I don't even have to stretch and dry just case skin wit feet and skull still in. Cuts my fur handling time way down. I have said it before, find a different outlet for product. They exist.

Wish I had more time to trap....

Don’t want to rain on your parade but there is no way a taxidermist could handle the production of a full on long line. And a small percentage of your catch is going to be of taxidermy quality anyway. If you sell everything you catch to one or two taxidermist, you’re not long lining!

Just keep selling to where you are then. I did t say these 2 guys could buy that much just pointing out the fact that there is a market other than fur market.if the fur isn't taxidermist quality fur market don't want it either. A lot of guys on here just like to complain about fur prices and when someone makes a post like I did you just want to poke holes in it. Good luck to you and trap on my friend.
