Storm stopped rain soaked in, can take cart out check west fence, lots o old trees can flatten a fence. Drive out in harvested field 1 Moron beside me. Driving along and see a most unusual thing so does moron, he heads for it I heel him back quick. It is what appears to be a large pile of corn meal. Get a stick to investigate start scratching around then bout have a heart attack when a brand new #2 Victor long spring grabs the stick. Grab the trap and pull, up comes a 2 foot long log bout 2 ft. Long with 4 brand new traps attachd 1 on each corner. Never been rusted or waxed. Corn gruel smells sour as heck. I like brand new traps, but have never seen this set. Any you guys? Thing is that setup and that gruel must weigh 50-60 lbs. the nearest road besides my lane is about a 1000 rod to the west. Must have wanted to trespass pretty bad. Any you other guys ever seen this setup? DNR officer is looking into it. He's young never saw it before.

Based on forum history, some here might criticize you for messing with a trapper's set, regardless of the trespass.

But it was your right to remove the trespassing traps, of course. Contacting DNR was wise.

Sounds like a poacher after turkey or maybe feral hogs. Hope the GW nails him.

Jim, haters gonna hate. Took traps as per DNR, keep for evidence. Danny, Drifter, we have turkey but don't think in season don't think trap legal for them. We haven't been hit with feral hogs yet. BTW a chevy truck is not a legal weapon for deer in Indiana. Other than curiosity about the set I still must keep my dogs in mind, Barron was heading for the pile when I called him off. Have a litter of puppies due in about 40 more days. Rabbit cop says traps are mine when file is closed.

Poachers don't give a hoot about season. What is 1 more law to break in their mind.

Yea hippie, my point exactly across corn stover. What could be worth that. Would not let Barron off the feed cart until I drove and searched the entire fence row. 150 rod. Looked for trax so did the Rabbit cop.nothing but mine a couple deer n a grinner. It rained real hard the night of the tornadoes but I think I would still see truck trax.
Don't know what ....who a grykla is. But if their is something to be said say it out load and plain for all even a new member like me to hear. Don't be shy. Don't have rel. in Iowa. I live within a stones thro of the confluence of the Tippicanoe and Wabash rivers. Hoosier enough?

yep. a guy trespassing to catch turkeys isnt worried about the law or your property rights

To me this almost sounds like it was an inexperienced and uneducated kid.
I have nothing clever to put here.

Don't know, I haven't bought a new trap in quite a while. Came in to change boots, saw this. I figured it out. Hippie your right it's 2.4 miles by my odometer so aprx.800. Trucks down there now, he is down in the open ditch, heads south east comes to within 2 tenth mile from my south side. Guess he floated the log, I've got a few cages in there but I have permission he doesn't. Must be in chest waders after all that rain. It's normal between my knee and top of hip boots. I'll getem when water goes down. Took pic of license plates will give to the DNR guy.
Well gota go feed, water.

Wasn't me!! Ha Ha!! Sounds like some young kids that are clueless and dreaming up new sure thing, one of a kind sets. Trying to catch anything. They need to be educated on the finer points of trespassing and trapping before they do something real wrong with a 330 and your dog or something. I would say with the license plates you will have some answers soon. Please give us an update when you know something.

I haven't heard anyone use the term "rod" since working an old man's farm in the 70's
