Hearing aids later in life.

Custom molded ear plugs with changeable insert filters are cheaper than most would think. Nobody will use your ear protection anymore either.

Use what you can get , it's a pain not hearing soft voices .
Certain tones are gone , waited too long and didn't know about hearing protection until I was in my late 20's .
Would wake up in the morning with blood on my pillow from my ears .
So use the best you can get .

Walker razor for most pistol shooting. Orange foam plugs for shotgun. Plugs and muffs if a rifle compensator is anywhere around.

My son and I run Howard Leigh impact sports , and then later added the aftermarket gel ear pads

they shut off after 4 hours and batteries last a very long time ,

my wife has Caldwell electronics , they have more comfortable ear pads from the factory but the electronics pick up more electronic noise like when you take a cell phone call you hear the chirps and chatter in the headphones they also cost less at about 25-30

I know most people probably don't take phone calls at the range but when your there for 8-9 hours at a time it happens.

I like the rope style ear protection peices. Earmuffs just give me headaches amd loose plugs just get lost, especially of you're running, mowing or jumping around.

Bluetooth is nice for listening to music, radio or podcasts. Though i do have a set of bone induction headphones that i can use if just using regular old dumb plugs.

This company makes some of the best hearing protection on the market. Many options. Even their standard yellow foam plugs are great.

I use custom molded ear plugs. I haven't found a pair of ear muffs that I like and I wear a wide brimmed hat much of the time.

Peltors electronic muffs. I've had them for nearly twenty years, they are awesome!

Mufflers would be nice but I am not going to ask some faceless bureaucrat for permission then pay a fine to own one.

I just use ear muffs. I like how they go on off easy.

When shooting BP or .22s I just use the yellow cylindrical foam plugs. For anything centerfire it's muffs on top of the plugs. Every once in a while at the range I will take my muffs off and forget to put them back on before taking a shot. When that happens I'm really glad I at least have the plugs in. That alone is reason enough to double up.

I keep a pair of the foam plugs in a case in my pocket at all times. Not for shooting only though. They go in when on the tractor, when mowing, on the 4 wheeler, chainsaw, etc. Anything that is loud enough to be the least bit uncomfortable to the ear right at the start and the plugs go in.

we run double on the indoor range a lot of the time

the howard leigh are 21db protection with the electronics so you can hear the other stuff like instructions , conversations , numbers read off or time to enter in the score

we run a pair of the faomies under and then turn up the volume on the electronics

wearing just the electronics makes me tired when inside for more than an hour or so and we go 2-3 hours for league often, that much sound can really wear you out it is a concrete and steel room and it echo's bad
