Most posts about the post office have to do with packages that take forever to be delivered or packages that are hung up in post office limbo. This post is about the opposite problem.

On Wednesday December 15, 2021, I sent a package to my sister. My sister lives in Denver, Colorado. The package was sent Priority Mail in a post office flat rate padded envelope. It had a label that was printed through the post office web site using Click-n-Ship.

On Friday the 17th, I used the post office web site to track the package to see when the package was scheduled to arrive. It showed the package had been delivered.

The weird thing is - it was delivered on a front porch in Ogden, Utah. Even weirder - it was delivered on November 22, 2021.

Supposedly, the package arrived in the wrong city 3 weeks before it was shipped!! Any one care to try and explain that………….. LOL

I've had that that happen. It's a re-used tracking number. All it means is that the package you sent has never been scanned since you dropped it off. Not surprising.

Angela - thanks for the comment. Very interesting. So, if/when the package is scanned, the info should be updated - right?

nothing like a monopoly USPS. Its NEVER their fault. Plus no money back if pkg doesnt arrive even with next day air..... any other business would be out of business

Label is being read wrong would be my guess, they say don’t cover the labels but you need to to protect them. I always wondered if a wrinkle in the tape could change the scanning number.

Not taking up for the post office but yea sorta. How many packages or letters got lost in the tornados that destroyed trucks vans, building, and distribution centers, PLUS internet orders thru the roof . Just saying.

Ordered something from Oklahoma on Nov. 30th, it was in New York Dec. 2

It spent the next 14 days going back and forth to the distributions centers in New York. I called them and the guy said when it comes back to his office he’ll grab it and make sure the correct address is on it.

Well, as luck would have it, that was the last day the package was doing it’s circle. It went to Alabama for a day and now it’s in Chicago.

C’mon man!!

I was waiting for some one to say that. LOL

I’ve checked it multiple times. I didn’t enter any numbers. Just clicked on the number provided in the email from the post office.

We ship about 2,000 boxes a year. Most are usps priority mail. Only a couple of times we've had packages show up like this - delivery date was before the mailed date. Some sort of glitch. One showed up 2 years before we shipped. That's service!

I had a money order that I sent usps priority..
It went out west somewhere instead of staying on the east coast..
We found it ,turned it around and got it delivered eventually..
Seems the priority envelope was a window type ..and the electronic readers get a glare off the window ..
I do not use those window type envelopes anymore...
Just Wright or print label and stick on outside of priority envelope..
