it is so the ladies can lift them into the car trunks, ours have gone to 25 pounds.
one of the farm supply dealers did a survey ( based on check-out receipts) that ladies buy 80% of the seeds for their feeders

Creative packaging now days it’s happening with feed sacks also some stores carry #40 some have #50 sacks. Lower the 50lb sack price and remove 10lbs and folks think its a good deal.

I read that last year farmers got 20 to 25 cents per pound for black oil sunflower seeds. If you live in an area sunflowers are grown in, you should be able to buy them off the farmer at substantial savings.

Last year I paid $14.95 for a 40 pound bag. This year, same store, same brand, same size bag, $24.95.

I don't care how nice the hand soap smells, you should never walk out of the restroom sniffing your fingers.

We use to buy 10 to 12 bags at Tractor supply every on black Friday. This year they didn't run a sale on it. Still 22.99 a bag. Our problem this year is lack of birds. That virus wiped out a bunch of the songbirds here.

They probably observed a decline in sales when the black oil sunflower seed prices hit $30+. The 40 lb sacks keep the prices below that $30+ threshold, for now...
