Customer: “Can you build me a big shuffleboard table by Christmas?” Me: “No.” Customer: “If we use kitchen cabinets and build a table on them could you do it by Christmas?” Me: “Maybe.” It’s playable. Cabinet finishing and drawer/door pulls will have to wait until after Christmas.
Eh...wot?

Looks fantastic sir. Probably been near 50 years since I played shuffleboard. Brought back good bar-time memories seeing the table.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Good looking table, I won a lot of money playing shuffleboard in my drinking days.
I got myself a seniors' GPS. Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination, it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Table shuffleboard is The Best ! So few around anymore. You did a great job on this, but I must say I'd miss being able to fully grip the wall side "rail" to make the shot. I mentioned that several times to the owner but he insisted on having it tight to the wall. Space is limited in this area of the basement so it almost had to be built the way it is. This is a new house for him and the shuffleboard replaces an old one he had in a barn converted to a game room at his former property.
Eh...wot?

Never seen one with plywood for the board. Always strips. No issues with cupping at seams? Plywood wasn’t my choice and wouldn’t have been used if it was up to me. I wanted to use T & G maple but the owner wanted it built his way. And the customer is always right, right? The base layer is 3/4” oak plywood attached to the base cabinets at multiple points and attached to a cleat secured to the wall. The intermediate layer is 1/2” fir glued and screwed to the base layer. The top layer/playing surface is more 3/4” oak plywood glued and screwed through both bottom layers. Five coats of clear polycyclic on everything. So far no issues with cupping or any movement at all. But time will tell.
Eh...wot?

If it flys it dies. and if it sits it dies too....

The lead carpenter with an outfit I worked with recently was telling me how they demoed a bowling alley a while back. He said they saved a bunch of the lane material, said it was about 1 1/2" wide and 2" thick but didn't know the specie. I would guess hard maple, maybe ash. Do you have any idea?

If memory is right, most use maple just like the pins
