When he got out of Marines, oldest kid worked nights at Walmart stocking shelves. As per him, job wasn't bad, dealing with customers was worst part.
When I go to Walmart, I tend to park way out on the fringe and walk in. Will usually find a cart left in a parking space or parked in a planter box somewhere out there and bring it with me. What is more bothersome than the carts are again, the people. Followed an old guy yesterday.....walking in from a parking space pretty far out......walking down the middle of the road. Completely oblivious to the 5 or 6 cars creeping down the road behind him. Or the people that rush to get inside the door, then come to a dead stop blocking all traffic as they get out their list or phone or whatever. Again, act as if they are the only person in the place......completely unaware there are people around them. When it's a tough choice between a name brand and Great Value, some will throw out an anchor and stay awhile. Waited on one lady close to 5 minutes once. She never moved. Very true! Now they stock shelves in the daytime, and have employees pushing the carts around filling orders for the people too lazy to shop for themselves. Between the stockers and the employee-shoppers it's hard to get through the store. One Walmart near here has NO cart returns close to the store, but they are on the outskirts of the parking lot. Makes no sense.
Life ain't supposed to be easy.

Why do some people do what they do? Maybe its laziness. Or just not considerate.
I have many times picked a cart that was out in the parking lot and posed a threat to vehicles.
And often they weren't far from the cart correl.

they can't keep cart pushers
they pay them X an hour and by the time they have a month in they have a month work history for an application to go someplace else and make more with better hours
my son did the cart pushing thing for about a month one week they would have him till scheduled 10 every night he put on his application he could only work till 9 he was 16 the next week hardly any hours the schedule is strange and changing enough to keep you from being able to work there and some place else or get enough sleep to go to school at 7
some of his friends have done it longer all moved on to better jobs
the moral is very very low at Wally
people show up and give their 10%
don't work to fast or too hard or co-works will be mad at you
your there for hours not tasks As someone who has worked at Walmart, and who also has a family member that currently does, there's a lot not true here. YES new hires work at whatever scheduled spot they're needed in, which is true of almost every retail or other minimum wage type job. So of course they might work 6am-2pm one day, and 2-pm to 8pm the next. Hiring personnel in most big business pay NO attention to the hours you put on your app. If he'd have complained about the extra hour, they would have accommodated him, because Walmart is one of the BEST companies as far as accommodating their menial employees. Not sure WHY moral would be low at Walmart when they bend over backwards to accommodate their employees. If someone can't fit in at Walmart, forget them ever getting a meaningful job elsewhere! a friend used to be the manager of that store , things were much different it was a place full of happy friendly employees different stores can be very different the same store can be very different under different managers the local employees only see what the local management shows them. maybe it also made a difference that this was mid covid
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Our walmart does a good job keeping the carts back in.....its the handbaskets I could scream about. There are hardly ever any at their station. And them darn buggies always lock together and you have to fiddle with them to get them unlocked. I never tried a hand basket , always seemed kinda tooty fruity

Visited my 2 kids this past week. All I'll say is they live in a southern state. Went to a Walmart there and parked by this. 9 carts in a parking spot. 1 cart looked like someone cleaned out their car and put it in a cart and left it there. Right across from these carts was a cart return area. If you could walk from your car, with the cart, to this parking spot couldn't you have put the cart where it belongs!!! Above the carts is the return area. Probably figured they had to use self checkout so instead of Walmart paying a cashiers wages they can pay cart boy wages....
you're only allowed so many sunrises... I aim to see every one of them!

8 times out of 10 it's lazy customers. It's another example of the sense of entitlement found in Americans. No respect for others. Body work isn't cheap. As I return mine I'll often grab 1 or 2 sitting less than a foot from a parked car.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the next wave of technology. Wonder whose intelligence they injected into the bots? Maybe the bots will return carts when they get done shopping.
