Morning trap check on my little 3 trap damage line. Scores me one more beaver for the sausages grinder. De-lair has this one at 58lbs. Told landowner figured 50lbs seen as one other day was 40lbs on nose. Could tell right off this one was bigger but said 50 be safe.. Didn't post yesterday because no catch and water dropped so much had three traps frozen out. Picked them up left me with just the three where had enough water. I'm guessing I might have the only two beavers really at this spot. But it so close don't mind going looking at just 3 traps. Merry Christmas Everyone! Mac

Great start to my holiday trapping weekend! Got to release the first bobcat I've ever actually seen in the wild yesterday. He was not a happy camper and I cut the notch in the plywood a little too big...thank goodness for welding gloves! Thats a dandy.

Another beaver this morning on my little 3 trap line this time was 50lbs on the nose. I have to say I really didn't expect to catch any more at this spot. Especially 3 this big in same trap. I knew this run the trap is in went into a bank hole. Didn't think be 3 big ones using it unless is just a breathing spot. Wondering if they are traveling from some other place as there is no feed pile close. Is and old house and feed pile couple hundred yards west across the channel. Mac

Lol deer fly. I hear ya! The secret to winter ratting is being there.
We just experienced a 20 year conditions anomaly. Despite our low water levels.
It started rough then opened up with a squeaky clean slate.
Marshrat get some boots on those kids!

The kids and I checked our little line yesterday wearing our tennis shoes. We have more than enough rats for bait for fisher trapping and we even managed to catch an incidental mink which never gets old. Otters had come through but we didn't connect. Kids couldn't figured out what we did wrong so they decided to leave soak for a few more days before moving anything.
