The 99 has been in the family for quite a while. I am going to get a letter of authentication from savage archive to see where this gun was shipped to when it left the factory. I presume my grandfather bought it new. My father only remembered his dad always having it.

My good friend picked up a 99 in 308 last year it's a real beauty immaculate condition. Whereas mine has been used for hunting for a long time. I recall my father saying that his dad had savage put a new barrel on it but I don't think so because the numbers all mach up on the gun? I think I will have a better idea when I send for the letter and get a little bit more information about it.

The 99 my great grandpa bought, he got at the hardware store in town in 1939. And my grandpa bought a used .250-3000 takedown in the mid 60s which is a beautiful gun

Going to take this one to camp to maybe do a bit of target shooting. This is the most accurate 22 I ever owned. [Linked Image]
