I am going to get a letter of authentication from savage archive to see where this gun was shipped to when it left the factory. I presume my grandfather bought it new. My father only remembered his dad always having it.

Whereas mine has been used for hunting for a long time. I recall my father saying that his dad had savage put a new barrel on it but I don't think so because the numbers all mach up on the gun? I think I will have a better idea when I send for the letter and get a little bit more information about it.
