Caught my second ever bobcat today. I don't consider myself a coyote/bobcat trapper at all, I only own 4 traps for them. I only set them occasionally, but this weekend I got lucky. The is big male was waiting for me, same public lake I caught my last one at. I don't know who was more excited, me or the girls laugh I have idea about bobcat quality, but he seems like a big one. He'll end up tanned hanging on my wall, so it doesn't really matter I suppose.

Way to go loosegoose.
When I was a kid in 70s the very first bobcat I ever saw was at Rockford lake east of you. I had a number of relatives down there back then. Saw my first track on a dirt road near Big Indian along cub creek. There were not many cats at all on our end of the state, only saw catches really from west and northern parts, never our corner. Were as rare here as wild turkeys were at the time in our corner. Now they both are regulars and plentiful.
In late 80s and 90s i wanted to catch a cat but didn't want to drive 5 or 6 hours to do it. Dennis Vicars was a big help to me and was one of the few guys I knew that caught them regularly. So was my uncle by blue springs. He was getting regular video of them, hand held video while sitting in a stand.
Then the population really took off. My friend Kenny Kreshel at Wilber one season in early 2000s took 18 in and around that area and over toward Swanton and hwy 41, quite the comeback in populations.
You have a nice male there and was great to see the pics of you and your kids with it. Way to go.
Thanks for sharing the pics.
Jim
