Yep

It's one symptom of over population. ARs still are stupid enough to think Mother Nature's way of dealing with this is more justified than killing them humanely.

The difference between animals and humans is that animals would never let the dumbest ones lead the pack.

This coyote was living in a stackyard and eating corn silage to stay alive. one night in the trap, unable to crawl back in the hay, and it died of exposure. mange mites are a nasty creature and cause a miserable death that takes months. disney movie fans dont have a clue what the natural world is really like

I had a buddy I trapped with for a few years in Kansas that always did that because he had a good market for both the skulls and the claws. Every couple of months he would get a little spot of mange on his arm and he would just shrug his shoulders and wipe some motor oil on it like it was no big thing

I have had mange on my arms. 2-3 days and its gone. Kinda like chiggers but not near as bad. Those mites are coyote specific. I guess I should say canine. Dont let your dog get around a still warm mangy one.

^^^^^^
This. Sarcoptic mange mite can't survive or reproduce on a human because it's species specific. It will make you itch a few days, like Danny said, until they die. Usually die in a 2 to 3 day time period. I've drug off quite a few mangy coyotes (always with gloves on) and have never have gotten it.

Correct. All sarcoptic mange mites are adapted to infect specific hosts, though they have been known to infect other species at least temporarily. There is a specific human-adapted variety of S. scabiei that causes scabies (mange) in people.

Notoedric mange mites are not specie specific as far as I know but do not infect humans.

Most mammals, including humans, have Demodex mites and they are specie specific.

I have skinned many mangy red fox. It usually starts in the back of the rear legs and tails around here. If it has not advanced further than that I put them up.

Eh...wot?

Yes, I hear bugs die about a day after body cool? My Dr prescribed ivermectin for covid prevention, and I have horse paste too, that stuff kills mange
For me one out of seven or eight had it

Ivermec is good stuff but I have probably rubbed motor oil on 100 head of horses where they get to rubbing late in the winter. It will kill about any type of mite or skin parasite.

Wherever some ol boy has telephone poles stocked for his next fencing project I notice the hogs will rub on the creosoted end until it is polished up like glass. I assume it gives them some relief

A "favor" would have been to pen it up and give it a shot of Iverctin, (which would have cured it )

Killing it, is actually more like : putting it out of it's misery !

That's what you really did !
