Been seeing something on Yellowstone been bugging me. What is with those cowboys posting like they are on a English fox hunt? That gonna be the new normal?

Pete they also refer to a pasture or section of grass as a field. I'm not sure what that is all about but I am guessing that the man that plays Lloyd might be the only hand there.
Savell don't you have a $19 cat to put up or an elf deer to process?

Drifter, posting has been with western riding all along. As long as I have ridden cowboys have posted to the trot. When you ride long hours and cover ground at more than a walk, posting saves energy and is the easiest on the horse. Especially with horses who have very rough gaits, they even help you post . Good observation , Pete. Something Ive always wondered about...there are machines to help jockeys learn their balance, bull riding machines for bull and bronc riders practice , and machines simulating the lope of hunters and eventers. Advanced kid's rocking horses, so to speak. Like the Quarter horse kids ride in the front of stores ... But I have nevah seen an invention that simulates practice in posting. Hoss, Lloyd isn't the only cowboy acting , there are several more who are the real riders in the show too...the guy who rides those Lena and other top show horses from the four 6 is also the real deal. Can't recall names, but watch how they ride and rope, that's how I pick em out !

Been so long since I rode a horse I would be like that kid at the end of last episode.

Me too Pete.
My wife asked me how long it took to learn to ride like John said. I said after the first time your jumblies slipped under you as you went down as the horse came up. I said I was a slow learner though and had to cider press 'em a couple more times before I learned my lesson.
My cousins quarter "Warrior" was a hard horse to ride. As soon as you got used to his gait he would change it up slightly. But boy that horse was a good roping horse.
