I was going to title this thread “If you had to go to Canada” Just a jab at my Canadian brothers. My son (A) has had his trip to Italy canceled for the 5th time. I told him if he wants to go somewhere in these crazy times and is absolutely set on traveling to another country he should hop to the north. If you were going to Canada in January what city would give you the most cultural experience as well as historic or would you recommend he wait until the weather warms up. It’s his money so I don’t have skin in it other than advice. Thanks guys

Don’t think I would go in the dead of winter.

Ottawa. The Capital. Beautiful, cultural, and historic city. :-)

Man every province in Canada is so different, he could go to every one and feel like he’s in a different country. He could go to Banff and go skiing if he’s into that.

Probably 100 better places to go to in Canada than Ottawa. That would probably be equivalent to going to Kansas City.

Ottawa? There's fench people there and our idiot of a prime minister. Not so sure I'd be coming north in January. I think here in Alberta we are claiming 13 of 15 coldest spots in the world the last couple days. It all depends what your son is into I suppose. Come summer theres the calgary stampede, Klondike days in Edmonton and lots of small town rodeos. Tour of the oil sands in Fort Mac be pretty neat. There's a all season road to tuktoyaktuk now. Bannf-Jasper hiway is a nice tour. Mile zero of the Alaska highway starts at dawson creek and is a beautiful drive with lots of Can/US history. Lots of history in South alberta as well. The Canadian shield is a neat place to visit.

Depending on what neighborhood of a larger city you go to in Canada, it is much like going to India, Pakistan, China, Iran or Syria,

Keith

Quebec city in the winter if you can hit the winter carnival. Lots of history in the old city.

Wife is wanting to go with him. She says son (B) will ask her to go check cows. Son (C) will ask her to go goose hunting, and son (D) will ask her to go to a Spider-Man movie. Funny stuff

1. Go to Churchill, Manitoba or a better beginning point and search for polar bears.

2. Go to Halifax and tour up the Maritime provinces. Snow.

3. Buddy up with a Canadian trapper to tag along on his trapline and make a new friend.

4. Go to Manitoba, Saskatchewan, or NWT to hunt wolves.

5. Or just Nunavut!

If I went to canada I would visit baco and learn how to handel and make finished fur products. And some about trapping as well. But I don't go where I can't carry a gun.
