i skinned out a badger and got lazy, mold ended up on my stretcher and my badger. it wasn't a big deal to me, i threw it in the freezer until i can remove the mold from the badger. i cleaned the crap out of the stretcher and then used it for a bobcat. obviously i didn't clean it well enough. i fleshed the bobcat very well, but now it's slightly moldy, how do i clean the flesh without damaging the fur?

rookie mistake, i know

Soak a rag In some bleach and wipe off the mold. The bleach will kill the bacteria and It won't hurt the fur.

Wipe it with vinegar then let it dry on the stretcher with a fan blowing on it. Also stretcher should be wiped with vinegar and dried. Always run a fan on furs that are drying to circulate air and help drying. you can use borax on areas like under legs and head areas to aid in drying.

Spray a little bit of wd40 on the hide and wipe it in…gets rid of mold and puts the shine back on the leather.

Most of that doesnt kill mold, just shocks it to make it disappear.

You must have poor drying/storage conditions if you are getting mold on fur.
Correct that, and you wont have to waste time and money trying to get rid of mold all the time.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

The recommended condition for drying pelts is 50-60F with fan- controlled air circulation, but not directly on the pelts.

The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.
