Wondering if you use them, how long, how thick, how deep in the ground?

Thumb thick kill stick will stone a fox or cat. A 2 inch stick will stone a wolf.Even a big one.
So I imagine somewhere in between for coyote.

Some people suggested a tangle stake for open grass location, I tried kill poles, without a blade added it will spin in the ground

Nedd to be in the ground a couple feet and need to be three feet above it if using rebar. Else they will cut theirselves up on the top of it. Those kill springs that look like little conibear springs with a trigger are working good without a tangle pole

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

I use the other choke springs, but the deer stop usually keeps them alive

I use they when snaring K-9's when I don't have natural entanglement.
I use what ever is handy.

Tac 20. When I was in Iowa and was is in a grass situation, I did use some kill poles. 5ft long, half inch diameter. Drove em in at least half way maybe a pinch more. Had a short of snare as possible. I fastened at the bottom of the pole. I welded 2 fence post staples so the cable would wrap up sooner and get the job done. I used these mainly for grass only situations and where there was limited amount of trail to save on location. Im sure you know how it is. If I knew how to send you a picture of the poles I would. Hope this helps.

I made two hundred kill poles, first five caught, three cut the snare, the poles spun in the dirt instead of wrapping as it should have.

If I had used a small blade on the bottom it probably would have worked.
I sold most of them, I still use a few to hold my tomato cages up.
If the tangle stake needs to be 4+' then I probably could try the kill poles again.
Five or four foot tangle stake, 30-37" anchor stake, too much steel to haul

Sticks or natural location is best.
No need to haul anything but a hatchet.
Even in trails in long grass field there should be some nearby brush to cut a kill stick.

It's open grain fields, fence line, dredge ditch about all I have, the grass trails are the main location here
I also have to avoid deer and pheasant hunting spots
