kurtansky OP trapper K Joined: Jul 2021 Posts: 41 MI	I'm looking to try water trapping with coilsprings for the first time I've only used body grippers before this. Mostly looking for otter and beaver my question is when using coilsprings on drowner cables how long of a chain do you usually have attached to the trap I'm sure a lot has to do with water depth but I'm just looking for what your average amount would be I don't want to have it too short or too long regardless of water depth

Howell Bros trapper H Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 123 Southern Wisconsin	I try not to have more than a couple links. In my opinion less is better. Anything caught by the back foot can reach the surface pretty easy. However, I trap with longsprings so I don't have an issue bedding with the short chain.
