Fourth one here on a guys pheasant hunting spot.
Two adult male, two adult female so far here.
I made a big loop through the CRP grass with the ATV to check the traps and snares.
Along this tall grass I made a trail on the way out.
After a week or so I set two snares in the wheel tracks, I avoided that spot , drove through the tall grass to try to hide the tracks.
Got her about a week later[Linked Image]
Her fur is slightly thin on her sides, not many guard hairs on her tail, she might have sheltered in a steel culvert somewhere.

I set up a new place today that I have never trapped before, it looks real good, plenty of sign.
It will probably be a regular for me

Tactical.20 how are you anchoring your snares in the frozen ground, pounding rebar through the frost? I'm sure you have explained the type of snares and supports you are using, but I would be interested in hearing what you use.

I normally use either 30" steel stake, or 37", with this ground frozen a foot or more I have used ,some 24" 1/2" rebar.
I use a #9 galvanized wire for a support, make my own snares with O'Gorman parts
I made my own support wire driver, I push the wire in when not frozen, drive it in with the hammer

Nice job Tac! Question how is your pheasant population? We don’t have ANY birds here...unless you are near a hunt club. Wiped out.

I like cam locks but freezing rain and they freeze solid
The lock I use the most is I think called a slim lock, small tab for a catch

I see pheasant on every farm, unless there is no grass
I've seen 6-12 roosters get up on some places

Thanks! I'm hoping to catch 80, my best year 6 years ago was 74.
I heard maybe coyote are selling a little higher?
I had ten no good and probably two more I shouldn't have skinned

The wind blew hard all night, it's going to be cold on ATV today, maybe -30 wind chill , hopefully something moved before the wind kicked up, I'm excited to see if new places gets me to 80
