Normally I sleep well but lately my 12 year old Lab has insomnia. She takes Prednisone for an inoperable tumor and that makes her thirsty. No matter when I cut off her water she wakes me between 1:00 and 3:00 AM to go outside. It's a small price to pay for more time with my failing best friend.

If I have a project unfinished, I stay away awake and complete it over and over in my head.

At least I know I am not the only one.

And body-grip safeties, I took those off, right?

Although I enjoy a cold beer now and then, I can plan on a restless night after getting up to pee. No sugar or caffeine after 3 PM or my night is shot. Not being able to turn off my mind or listening to my neighbors dogs bark all night at stupid little things like an owl hooting gets my mind spinning.

x2 on darkness to sleep. Some folks have to have a dang fan in their face to sleep. Forget that.

My wife always has a fan on, it has grown on me also lol. Power went out one night and couldn’t sleep worth a hoot. What kept me awake last night was the 5 geese that lit in my decoys 10 minutes after shooting time ended lol.

Insane dreams just before I wake up in the morning. Did you know rooster pheasants can swim underwater, then come up and fly away? I didn't either.

I don't dare take in caffeine past about 4 or 5 in the afternoon or I will be bright eyed and bushy tailed until 3 am or so.

Heat. The only thing that keeps me awake more then five minutes after I lie down.

Stress, from work, kids, day to day worries, thoughts of retirement failures, diabetes, weather, just worry way to much lately.

The 5 hour thing seems to be a goal of mine as well. Got it to 6 last night but I overslept.
