VDOT is really laying down the salt solution on US. 340. I have no clue what I-95 is like. Hopefully people are getting off and finding a hotel room before the road gets locked up again. I try to avoid I-95 because it's almost always a nutcase even in sunny weather.

I bet 95+% had nothing useful with them.....I wonder who on here has a good winter kit in the vehicle? Well if guess I would be among the 5% because I have tools, emergency snacks IE couple freeze dried meals, extra warm cloths as well as some blankets just in case, learned that lesson a long time ago even if my dad had not already drummed it into us as kids, it’s been reinforced over the years by several break downs or ditch stranding, even with cell phones it can be several hours before help arrives especially when your out in the boonies

I keep a few mre's, water, toilet paper, paper towels, a big box of wooden matches, and an ammo can with wrenches, socket set, screwdrivers, circuit tester, roll of electrical wire, black tape, allen wrenches, pliers and assorted nut and bolts. I have a roll of heavy trotline cord, some ratchet straps and duct tape, two wool blankets. Have an axe and shovel, spare tire, tire plugs and a 12 volt air compressor. Have a couple 20 foot chains. My new jeep has a winch so I carry a snatch block. All that stuff except the shovel, axe , ammo can and cord fit under the back seat. Shovel ax and ammo can live in the bed. Water bottles are under the front seat. That kinda stuff has lived in my pickups since high school.
i need to put together a good first aid kit but first I need to learn more about it. I been working on that

^similar to what I keep. very warm clothes, gloves and boots, some food, mre's, coffee, oatmeal, water, lifestraw, eureka tcop tent, a 40° wiggys bag, alcohol stove & fuel, candles, firestart kit, a couple of wool blankets and assorted odds and ends.... I have been cold overnight with no way to get warm and I would not like to experience that again.

When i was about 14 I hiked up into some hills. It was Christmas break. Took my 30-30. Made a little camp by some rimrock. Built a fire. Slept between the rock and the fire. I got cold and scooted closer to the fire a couple times. I was tired didnt want to toss wood in. Managed to set my bag on fire. I ripped it open and got out unscathed. No moon. Too dark to go home. So I shivered around that fire all night waiting on the sun. That was my most miserable night out. Never did tell my folks. They didnt like me doing that stuff anyway.
