If you want fox pups, the Spring Swap Meet at Mt. Hope is better than the auctions. I have seen fox pups for sale for as low as $35.00 each for marble fox pups, though it's been a few years for that price range. There are a lot less furbearers there than there used to be, but still a lot compared to anywhere else I know of. It's been a long while since I've seen a lot of mink there. They used to be really cheap.

3/25/2022 is the day the fox will be auctioned.

The first big swap of the year is 5/20/2022 and 5/21/2022

I go to Mt. Hope pretty often and send buyers more often.

https://www.exoticanimalsforsale.net/ is a good website to buy furbearers at.

The Topeka, IN exotic sale is a good one. I have never gone, but have friends who never miss it, who buy for me there.

The eighties and nineties had much better sales than now. The Zanesville incident response and peta, have greatly limited what you see for sale. A good friend of mine used to sell large numbers of mountain lions and other big cats.

You're welcome. At the swaps at Mt. Hope, there will be several times as many vendors and animals on Saturday than on Friday. A lot of the best animals sell out on Friday, especially the animals being sold by the Amish I used to frequently go both days and buy the best stuff present on Friday, new best stuff early on Saturday cheap stuff on Saturday, at the end. It might be best to go Friday and stay over to Saturday, if you need to.

The Mt. Hope Exotic Auction is sort of like a cheap zoo, where you can get really close to, buy and take home the animals. They won't sell any predators bigger than a coyote now or primates bigger than midsize. Zoos shop there. There are many thousands of animals sold there in several hundred species. There can be as many as 8 auctions going on at the same time. The barns where they house the hoofed mammals and kangaroos and adult wallabies are big enough to get lost in, especially when they close a section off as they load it. Once a buddy and I got blocked off as they ran a decent sized herd of zebra through. There may be elk, next to musk ox, next to cassowaries, next to wildebeest. There are huge numbers of deer. There is lots of cages and equipment for sale in the auction and usually loads of taxidermy. In the furbearer room be careful where you walk and reach. The African porcupines' quills can stick really far out of their crates.

The swaps have comparitively small amounts of exotics and native mammals, but are less crowded and have better deals.

All furbearers sell with the cage they are in. All the other animals sell with their cages too, except for the hoofed mammals, ratites, kangaroos and wallabies.

The very first time I went to the Mt. Hope Exotic Auction, I made the mistake of filling my car with cages. My buddy who went with me even had 2 cages on his lap. I ended up buying 168 pigeons in probably 30 some different cages. The cages ranged from total pieces of cobbled together crap, to $60.00 plus, very good, new cages. It worked out very well. A then acquaintance of mine offered to bring the cages back to this end of the state. I gave him a lot of the not as nice cages, because he just sells at the auction in them. We became very good friends and have been friends for going on 30 years. I am friends with his son, grandsons and nephew too now.
