It could have been worse. Check out the Youtube video of one Woman having a total meltdown , when her 35 year old engine with 14,000 hours breaks down.
A tip about the PEX fittings. There are PEX brand, and there are aftermarket brands that are cheaper than PEX. They are very prone to failure......not even freezing temps. Not saying PEX brand hasn't failed, but all fittings used aren't PEX brand fittings. Just sayin......beware of aftermarket stuff.
I'll bet the floors in a houseboat in East Tennessee are alot warmer than camper floors are in Interior Alaska during the winter. Glad I won't be doing that again.

So I went and bought 15 foot of that heat cable tape stuff. I did not even know such a thing existed. Its installed under the boat minus 6 inches that the thing was to short but I can defrost that with a hot air blower and then insulate the carp out of it with spray foam and dump half a yard of dirt over it then . Plugged the cable thing in .............
And now we wait

Scuba, If you have any exposed pipe beneath your boat, I would quickly wrap an electrical cable made for heating around that section of pipe and plug that in whenever it gets below freezing. Most pipes do not break the first time they freeze because they can stretch a bit but they almost all will break with repeated freezing and thawing.
Yes Heat tape with an indicator light

I just did that 330... thanks to the folks on here pointing me in that direction. Skated with the truck to ACE hardware and back to get a length of it and put it under the boat.

Scuba, just viewed your return trip video from the spring. " IF" that roadway is essential to your property, I "Highly" recommend lots of Water Bars............... to keep and SAVE the road way . Nip it in the Bud, Do not put it OFF.......... If it comes alot of H2O, all could be LOST............. Mother Nature can be Wicked. There is lots of INFO out there.... I speak with 20 + yrs. of Soil & Water Conservation conversation... Now tired and Retired . Tut , PS I also live a DRY cabin life style .
To funny,,,,, Germans always were sunglasses so “they” can not see the eyes,,,, lol
I have pretty light sensitive eyes and wear them most every day. I took them off when I was doing heat tape thing under the boat though. On the upside, I don't use a lot of batteries for my flashlights

There is also a thermostat, available, for the heat cables. It comes on just above freezing and shuts off when the temperature goes back up. You can tape it to your pipe So it senses the pipe temperature.. Used them in my barn , at water bowls , for cattle. It is usually made by the heat tape people.. old243
