No dmg walleyed, the big one has a poor belly-,stained reddish. The other one has a nice bright white belly.
I will tan those in the spring and either sell locally or make fur hats.
I snared one at a wolf killed moose, and the other was caught right beside a snared wolf.
Having wolves in the bush(but not too many) is beneficial to a lot of other furbearers in winter-the smaller animals-especially the fox, follow them around to clean up their leavings. If the wolves get overpopulated everything else will decline.A key species in the bush like beaver.

Got a nice Light tawney wolf all frost scraped and skinned for taxi to put on the board later today, should look pretty nice when done-not a real big one but well furred.

Beautiful foxes, Boco. love those fluffy ruffs on the neck.

I didn't see your question to me on the AK cold and snow thread till now...I used to have a plow on a Honda 4 wheeler. It was years old and everything began falling apart with it, so I traded it in to a guy who wants it for parts and who runs a big plow truck. He plows my place now , so I don't have to hassle with it . On the lesser paths I use snowshoes, they keep trails tamped down and open. Really like snowshoes for that , they do a great job and I don't have to shovel .

Show more of those fluffies when you get them, and please include the tails ! I like seeing the colour tone on them.

Beautiful fur Boco. Were you targeting them or were they incidental catches? I only ask that because of the price of fox obviously. We get them as incidental catches around coyote baits.

I have a good market for them when tanned.I target lynx and fox in the same sets.
I dont go out of my way to supply them to the raw fur market currently. Not too many sets out this year,my line is about 4 km long, lol.I did get beaver this fall and will trap more beaver in May if we have open water before the season closes.
In the boreal forest,a very good catch of fox would be 30-40 in a season and only in years when their numbers are up.My best year on Fox was 54,and lynx were very scarce at that time-A couple big fires had left a lot of open country that the fox like and lynx avoid.Today with the 25-50 year old succesional forest there are many more lynx and much less fox.
I'm happy with 10 or a dozen fox per rtl.

Quite a few US Customs Officers take the post in Canadian airports and live up here, depending on the rules can trap after 6 months.
When asked if they want to move......they become creative in why they should not move to stay past the 3 year term of the post.
